My Favorite Vehicle I've Owned — I bought this truck with 35k miles on it and traded it in with just over 80k. It was a spectacular truck with a ton of options and great handling. The gas mileage was about 22 MPG on the highway and 15 in town. I was one of the thousands of people that had to downsize to accommodate the rising gas prices. :'(

Pros: Everthing but gas mileage

Cons: Gas mileage

One Of The Best Suv's Around! — Very nice car for those looking to have room, nice pickup and towing, and good gas mileage. The Envoy performs excellent under any conditions (that I've been through at least) and continues to perform well beyond expectations. The engine has enough power and torque to leave V-8's hanging at the line, but that's not it, it can also tow large boats with ease in the AWD and can handle mountains with the 4HI and 4LO settings.

Pros: EXTREMELY comfortable ride, ALOT of power for an inline 6, very roomy inside, great gas mileage for a 5,000 pound SUV

Cons: transmission could be built a little better to handle tougher conditions, and the AWD fails if it's not used for awhile

2002 GMC Envoy 4 Dr SLE 4WD SUV Review
says:
Rusted out frame & undercarriage. A Family sedan, not a true 4X4 on off roading. Very comfortable ride & performance. Good for :when needed four wheel drive conditions. A lower clearance body. Tighter rear seating. Comfortable GM seating overall. Not my TRUE 4X4 SUV pick.

Handling Ranked 2002 Ford Explorer worse.
"It has more stability on highway performance conditions. It is a quick response steering 7 handling. Powerful acceleration to pass on the highway & steep hills."
Would Buy Ranked 2002 Ford Explorer better.
"Only for not needing a TRUE 4X4 SUV, the comfort & performance of the GMC Envoy ranks better. The Ford has better 4X4 SUV off road capabilities. "
