2002 Chevrolet S-10 2 Dr LS Standard Cab LBReview

Best First Truck I've Ever Owned — I've had my truck for almost 2 years now and I have had nothing but trouble out of the thing. Changing the oil is one of the most dawnting tasks to preform. The oil filter is at such a weird position, its almost impossible to get to. The truck is a little weak in the performance area but it is after all a 4 cylinder. It does sound however like a beast. Gas milage isn't that bad if you have clean fuel lines unlike me. I was driving on 3 cylinders for awhile and only getting 9 mpg. The interior is actually spacious and this is coming from a 6'2 guy. The S-10 is a highly customizable car with millions of ways to do it. I've had numerious problems with the e-brake but it does help if the people install it right the first time. The ride is smooth, handling is pretty good. It preforms pretty amazing off-road for a 2WD. Its cheap and easy to maintain (besides changing the oil filter) but you'll have to do it often.

Pros: Spacious, off-road ability, apperance, part avalibility.

Cons: Lack of performance, build quality, not really that fun to drive, cheap built.

I Love The S10, I Own 2. — I purchase new 2000 2wd 4cyl and drive for 110k, good truck never any real issues, earned its keep and drove it all over the US. Upset that they don't make the S-10 any more the Colorado is no S-10, recently upgraded to 4wd 6cyl. more power, better performance, by purchasing 2002 S10 for a good deal. Hope to get 3 years out of it.

Pros: good small truck

Cons: no v8 option

A Great All Around Vehicle — I drive a 02 s-10 extreme with a 4.3 V6. It has quite a bit of power for a small pickup truck, im satisfied with the performance on it. It is 5 speed manual, and is a blast to drive, it could use a little more power but for a first car it is perfect all around. It has style, performance, comfort, and its a good time.

Pros: Fast, comfortable, fun

Cons: bad gas mileage, only seats 3

Chevy S Series Zr2 — Probably the BEST mid size pickup EVER built next to the Toyota Hilux. It has the largest V6 engine in it's class (4.3l). This thing is a beast off road. My only complaint is that Chevy doesn't make the S-10 with the ZR2 package anymore (since 2003). ZR2 Specs (unique to the ZR2 package): -Ladder Type Frame with Modified Mounting Points -100mm wider track (3.9 inches wider than regular S-10) -Increased Ground Clearance (Approx 3" over Regular S-Series 4x4) -Enhanced front (7.25" ring gear) and rear (8.5" ring gear) axles w/ 3.73:1 rear-axle ratio -Larger wheel and axle bearings -31 x 10.50" BFG A/T Tires -Fender Flares -46mm gas pressurized Bilstein Monotube shocks -Rear Track Bar -Skid Plates -Front/Rear Disc brakes (on newer models) -Full Size Spare Tire

Pros: Performance and Build

Cons: out of production

2002 Zr2 — My ZR2 is bad ass, fully loaded, with the bilstein suspension, fender flares, spray on bed liner, 3 carbon steal skid plates, huge offset tires, and the beastly 4.3 V6. This thing is a monster with a custom exhaust out of the bumper that I did myself. Definitely recommend these solid as hell trucks, this is my second one, made a mistake of selling my first one for a GSX Eclipse.

Pros: Great looks, good performance, and a solid beast of a mini truck.

Cons: Suspension is a little rough and it could be lifted more ;o)

2002 4.3l 5 Speed S10 — If your taller than six foot get an extended cab. The only choice for the engine is the V6. The exterior of S10 is nice and simple. If you want to spend some cash you can customize this truck to make it look one of a kind.

Pros: fun and cheap

Cons: everybody has one

Simply Awesome! — This baby has a 4.3L V6 that hauls ass. It's not the racing kind of power but will easily haul a full size trailer loaded with tractors. It will even haul a boat the size of a condominium. It has been build for the long haul so to speak.

Pros: Great power, excellent braking, great handling, enough space for three people, will go many miles before needing anything replaced.

Cons: Lower ball joints crapped out at 68,000 miles.  2002 models seem to have that problem in general with the first set of joints.  Armrest is a bit chincy, gas mileage is on the low side for a small truck (17-19 MPG).
