Great Car. — quick acceleration (its got a turbo) and quick braking. the handling is good but not super great. it doesn't need much repairs . it is cheap to own and it is fun to drive. it has great gas mileage. great interior and exterior.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: it is comfy and fastish as a road car.

Cons: leather seats (hard to clean spills out of).

Don't Buy One - Just Borrow Mine — I love my Cross Country, it's fun to drive for a practical wagon and it's a billy goat in the show and rain, but maintenance is ridiculously expensive! Still, I'm rolling happily along at 130K and plan to drive it at least two more years!

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Sporty, comforatble for road trips, versatile

Cons: Expensive "dealer only" repairs

Volvo - 2001 Xc70 - Reliable And Different From The Crowd — It is a very useful care that has some style and the ability to haul my junk if I need it. I thandles pretty well and I really like the AWD for Iowa winters. Gas Mileage is not so good, but I can get around 22 on the road. Turbo is great when you need to pass and for a wagon, it is pretty sporty.

Pros: Comfortable, good place ofr stuff; stylish in its own way; very reliable

Cons: Gas mielage; backseat room (small children only); some FWD oversteer

2001 Volvo V70 T5 — Great car on motorways and around town. Solid and comfortable. Insurance costs not bad if over 25, but petrol and road tax are on the high side. Excellent build quality, great gadgets - sat nav and built in phone (comms pack) good to have but dont add any value at all.

Pros: Engine Tone

Cons: Expensive to run

Problems Galore — My mom bought one used and it was a good vacation vehicle, its got plenty of space in the back for a family of fours luggage and is plenty spacious.

Pros: Space and its not bad looking for a station wagon

Cons: Engine light was on almost all the time.  It could be a problem with the engine but i found it to be way harder to maintain a constant speed then any other car i have ever driven

Everything A Driving Enthusiast Could Want In A Wagon — Best car I've every owned. Lots of power. Got it with a 5 speed manual! Very comfortable car. Can drive for hours and not have to stop. Very safe car. Been rear-ended in it twice. I got a scratch, the other cars were totalled. Holds a lot of stuff. Put an apartment-sized refrigerator in it and closed the hatch. Got it Certified at 31,000. It now has 204,000. Very reliable (except for circuit boards; i lose one every two years it seems). Gas mileage isn't that great, but you have to pay to lug all that weight around. Mine has a lot of miles and I expect to put on at least 100K to 200K more on it. Unfortunately, Volvo has determined that selling manual shift cars in the US isn't worth it so I'll probably have to buy a BMW to replace it. Update: Now 210,000 miles and still on the original clutch.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: It's the best of many worlds. Sporty, fun to drive, safe as a Sherman tank, reliable as the morning sun, and as long lasting as a monument.

Cons: What I hate is not the car, but the car company. I would love to replace the car with another Volvo of the same style and drivetrain, but Volvo keeps telling me to buy a BMW.

Great Family Wagon — Great family wagon Leather has held up well for 145k miles. Turbo works amazingly well, but is that the cause of oil consumption? Had to replace rear hatch pneumatic arms. Should have gone to Auto Zone rather than dealer. thanks

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Luxury feel for a FWD.

Cons: Post-warranty repairs really add up

Nice Mix Of Virtues — I don't expect this car to have the reliability of my Mazda 3, or even of the various Audis I've owned in the past, but it is comfortable, gets reasonable fuel economy, is roomy, especially with the rear facing third seat. Driver and passenger have great legroom and comfortably supportive power seats, but the backseat passengers don't have as much legroom as I'd expect in a car this size. Overall, a nice, comfortable, safe car.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Reasonably powerful, roomy, versatile, almost luxurious.

Cons: Electronic glitches.
