Pretty Good Overall — It had pretty good performance, quite a bit of understeer, and you could tell it was heavy. More at home on a freeway, than a track.

Pros: Leather seats, fairly luxerious for a small price

Cons: Reliability is not always up to par.

Looks And Drives Great — handling and acceleration are amazing with this car, not to mention all the extras.. monsoon 8-speaker CD changer system, black leather, heated seats, traction control, auto wipers, auto rearview mirror, climate control.. only qualms thus far have been repairs and electrical quirks (which is common with VW).

Pros: options, acceleration, space

Cons: electrical quirks

Pocket Rocket - — My 2001 VW GTI GLX VR6 w/Sport Suspension Package

Pros: VR6 Torque and sound. Quiet smooth, built like a tank

Great Hot-hatch With Solid Lines — The golf GTi is a great car that ages better than most other cars. If looked after it will give you 1000's of miles of driving. Whilst not slow after a while the 150 bhp the 1.8t engine kicks out seems slow and i would look into chipping the car as it will give you a more respectable 210 bhp. The handling is ok and its quite predictable when chucking it around thanks to the ESP and Traction Conrol. These features are annoying because you cant turn them off fully if you want some fun on a wet roundabout or country lane. The interior is well styled and the seats are very comfortable over long distances.

Pros: Good build quality, reliable

Cons: Expensive when something goes wrong

Good All Rounder Remapped To 212bhp — Mines a work in progress, my next job is uprated suspension. It was a bit dull when I bought it, hence the remap, plus I've uprated the brakes. Suspension and wheels to follow

Pros: Fast comfy and well built

Cons: Loads of them about

A Good Pullin Car Hehe — My mate owns this and by god it moves its ace and its changed my view on volks

Pros: excellent accellerator and fantastic road holding

Cons: sups the fuel like no tomorrow and il wait til 25 to even try get insurance

Good Gti, More Toys, Solid But Less Point And Shoot — Brought this after the head gasket went on the Mk2. Was getting older so things like working windows, and AC were important . . . This was the 1.8T, great torque, good power and reasonable MPG! A solid engine. Got rid of it due to strange turbo lag when cold somedays

Pros: comfortable, reasonably quick, looks

Cons: not a true GTI compared to MK1 and Mk2

My Golf Gti Turbo — Brilliant car, great fun to drive, brilliant turbo petrol engine. The car looks great, can shift when you want it to and will happily cruise on the motorway. Nearly as much space inside as my peugeot 306 and a whole lot more fun! :)

Pros: Puts a grin on my face when I drive it.

Cons: Can be a bit thirsty on fuel if you have too much fun ;)

Love It — I have never owned a car I have loved as much as my '01 GTI. Even the fully stock car has enough power for everyday drivers. It is sporty and sophisticated and feels comfortable. For all you speed demons, this car is highly modifiable, I am about ready to push about 285 hp out of mine for less than $500 (thank you ebay!) and that is pre-chip. It looks great... drives better and holds it value very well.
