206 2.0l Hdi — I have the 2.0 HDi version of the 206. Ridiculously economical, when driven conservatively can easily push 65+ mpg, but with it being diesel its acceleration is pants. Good motorway car, not exactly brilliant when you're trying to nip out into a tight space on a busy road.

Pros: Economy is great

Cons: About as quick of the mark as a granny on a zimmerframe

206 1.9d 2001 — It is 1.9D engine and is not good at acceleration, but is good at braking and handling. Very good build quality. Still is very stylish :) Cost of ownership... well, I went to sea and I drove 1300km and spare 50 l of diesel!!! This is small car and is very agile and fun to drive.

Pros: low fuel spare, hasn't need repairs

Cons: small, low rate of accelerate

Peugeot 206 — Bought my baby in july last year after only ever owning new cars so i kinda expected it to be crap! To my delight and surprise she was far from it! She only had 34k on the clock n no signs of wear n tear! After removing the kevin wheels that were on her n replacing them with some more her size she drove amazin! She is an absolute babe both inside and out n goes like stink! I would definatly recommend a 206 to any of my friends as they stand for good value money and exciting drive!

Pros: Great small car with big attidude

Cons: police think im a boy racer of 18! lol

Loveable But Flawed — Its a cute little car, but with major flaws. The gearbox is like shifting in pudding, and the handling is very vague. I'm sure the 206 gti cures all these problems. Our example would warn us of engine problems whenever we went uphill.

Pros: Good looks, great gas mileage

Cons: 70hp doesn't do it, mushy gearbox, reliabitly

It's An Average Car — Nothing special, I'd rather have an older car that you can drop a bigger engine into without spending a fortune.

Pros: looks quite nice

Cons: dunno

Scandinavian Winter And Summer For Two — I have had a passion for mini-convertibles. This was the right solution for a single man without too much money. Automatic transmission was good within Stockholm. I bought it as unused, drove 150000 km with it, until I saw the 207cc for first time.

Pros: Good low cost alternative for an enthusiast who wants something less common. The retractable hardtop is good in a country with snowy winters.

Cons: The car is too small for a family. And where is the engine power?

Peugeot 206 1.1 Lx — My first car. Had evolved a lot by the time I got rid of it. Performance is seriously lacking once you get used to it... for a first- time driver it's just right and can get you in serious trouble if you're inexperienced. The brakes are shocking, no ABS and no rear discs isn't a good combination, especially in the wet. You learn to respect the distance between cars and your braking distances in a car like this. The handling is very good. I find it communicative at the helm, and the cornering nature is excellent. If you're going fast enough through a nice sweeping corner, lifting off results in gentle lift-off oversteer. You can also provoke a lot of understeer, but it comes on benignly enough and the car lets you know where the performance envelope can be pushed to in regards of handling. You can feel the grip being used up. The standard suspension setup is beautifully fluid and very cossetting. The car has been surprisingly reliable given Peugeot's none-too- illustrious reputation. Only ever had problems that I've caused, or a problem that's wear and tear related. So again, problems I've caused... Build quality I don't think is too bad... it does squeak a little, but that can't be helped. It's a cheap car. I absolutely love the exterior design of the car, it's one of my favourite hatchback shapes. The interior design is slightly dated, but I like it. It could be worse, i.e. a Ford Ka. The seats are amazingly comfortable... that's what I love about French cars!! It handles motorway journeys like a car in a class above. Very impressive. Economy is not great. However, since a remap and a custom induction kit which allowed the engine to breathe a little easier, the car's economy has shot up significantly. This makes me feel a little better. Road tax is £115 a year... *sigh*... and they're very, very cheap cars to maintain and work on. I can service it myself if need be. I love this car. She's got a very cheeky personality and a fun-loving nature. A lot of character and a lot of fun.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Looks great, handles great, cheap to buy and run.

Cons: Slow doesn't cover it, braking is horrendous, could use a little more quality...
