Awesome Pocket Rocket — Loved the look when they first came out. Many years until I got one and it was a hard car to get hold of due to very limited numbers being sold in Australia. Packed with extras inside and out. I have had the car 2 1/2 years. I have looked at replacing, but even given its age, nothing on the market compares. The cougar is exceptionally reliable and faultless to drive. If you love a great handling car that can fly around corners and bends, the cougar will not dissapoint.

Pros: looks, rareness.

Cons: doesnt have a turbo or supercharger.

Cougar Fanatic — Straight line acceleration of the MTX (manual) is decent, but not anything to brag about (the automatic transmission's acceleration is pretty bad). Performance in the twisties IS something to brag about! Even in stock trim, the MTX V6 can give cars with much more horsepower a real run for their money. In other words, the Cougar shines in the twisties. The Cougar's build quality is pretty solid. The two weak points of the Cougar are the sunroofs and the alternator. Gas mileage with the Cougar is actually pretty good. My MTX V6 Cougar can get over 35 mpg on the highway! This great gas mileage is in part due to the fact that my car has an aftermarket air intake as well as aftermarket exhaust (Trubendz dual cat-back exhaust with a Magnaflow muffler). Overall, the Cougar is a blast to drive. I look for any reason to drive it. In my opinion, the best thing about the Cougar is its looks. I love the '99-'02 Cougars!

Pros: Looks, handling and fun to drive

Cons: Alternator

I'm Just Super Partial To My First Car — It was not the greatest car and I didn't have it very long. But I think almost everyone gets a little attached to their first.

Pros: Fun, fast, peppy, green!

Cons: Had recurring fuel injector problems

Fun Car — Not impressed with the car's quality. Had many problems with it, but when i look back, i didn't really take too much care of it either. Drove it like it's stolen. Considering its a 2.5 liter v6, it could have had a little more horse power, and a lot more torque. Somebody said that the brakes are weak. I think brakes are very good. Car is a little heavier, but the brakes have been doing their job for me so far. Car has good looks, and nice handling. Even though i've had quite many problems with it, i would still recommend this car to any1.

Pros: style, fun to drive

Cons: loses its value quickly, not so reliable

Fun To Drive... Sometimes — good acceleration, bad braking due to the cars weight.. the back end is very heavy so stopping quickly was somewhat difficult. the appearance is nice, it gets a lot of stares... easy to customize and handles bass for a radio really well

Pros: acceleration, appearance, handling

Cons: stopping

My Cruiser — Performance is horrible and the car is way to heavy. Well the build quatily is ok but if you want a nice ride buy an infiniti or a lexus.. Style is ok but to tell truth its more of a girls car. It use to be my moms car.. she passed away in 07'. So I cruise it in her memory . If u want a gas guzzler this is it. Well what else u want it weighs 4000lbs. Its fun to drive but dont expect to race anyone.. You will loose. And would you believe someone actaully used a 02 cougar and made it into a Bugatti Veyron? I couldnt believe it but the body is perfect for making a nasty kit car but why would anyone keep a 170hp engine is strange. You want a fun car, my other car is an infiniti G. Now thats fun and great on gas.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Its a tank if someone hits you, Sounds Awesome with the intake and the Trubendz Dual Magnaflow Exhaust. Interior Sound Loud but I love it.

Cons: Gas Guzzling 170hp in a 4000lbs car and not a great suspension nor is the trans. The car has 67k on it and its starting to slip already.

I Like The Car — This car is a nice riding great handling little car, though it has a lack of power, which could be fixed by having a manual, it has a very low cost of ownership with nothing really going wrong as long as you maintain it. The Cougar is incredibly fun to drive though its power to weight ratio, without the manual and S version engine, is somewhat lacking.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Great looks, Good Ergonomics, Good Ride quality

Cons: Extremely Hard to Customize

Best Totaled Car I Have Ever Driven. — This was someone's baby. I actually raced against it, when I was driving my `96 Contour, about a year before it became mine. When I bought it, it was Ford Zinc Yellow, its body kit had been molded into the body (which broke free in the accident), it's nose was destroyed and it just needed a lot. I had plans to make it my toy, so it was repaired with Ford parts. It had coilovers, Contour SVT E0 wheels, Magnaflow exhaust, factory E-code headlamps (colorless sidemarkers) and a few other little toys. It was a fun little car, and it was no longer yellow, but Volvo Saffron Orange.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Cheap insurance, good handling, acceptable power levels, manual trans, leather and the car is orange.

Cons: Coilovers make the ride rather stiff.
