Nice Daily Driver With Good Power — I test drove it for a friend and ended up wanting one for myself. It has extremely nice interior features as well as great performance. It was the first sedan that has ever pinned me back in the seat! I would recommend it to anyone who wants an affordable sedan with nice features, but who also likes to have a bit of fun out of their daily driver.

Pros: performance and acceleration, interior trim and comfort, space for people as well as luggage, decent sound system for being factory

Cons: none

It's Just A Base Model. — If you are gonna buy an impala, go for the LS. It looks better, has mag wheels not caps, a spoiler and a sunroof. It also has a larger engine.

Pros: Good acceleration

Cons: Really plain looking, go for the LS.

Overated — I have drove this car when I was first learning to drive. It is a car for chicks because it is a grocery getter. even in appearance. It can carry some speed real easily and it is fast for something that does not look as fast as the other impalas. In my opinion it is too quiet and rides to soft because it is unresponsive. If have had a history of driving pickups, then you will hate the impala's handling because it feels way too loose in its handling.

Pros: surprisingly fast, sound system

Cons: oversteers way too easily, unresponsive suspension, looks bad without spoiler, leaves get in between the wiper and the hood if you live in the country like me, drags too easily if you live in the mountains

Reliable, Safe, Powerful Sedan — My wife and I purchased this car from our uncle. He purchased the car from his fire chief where he is a volunteer firefighter, for his son's first car; fire chief's mother purchased car brand new and put 58,000 miles on it it 11 years. We purchased vehicle upon returning from work overseas in November 2012 and were amazed at the condition of the car for being a 2001. It literally ran like new. We have had to replace the original battery and replaced brake system in late 2013. My wife likes it because it's reliable and safe to ride around with our 14 month old son. She also likes it because when we had snow and ice in February 2013 in Nashville she started sliding on road which initiated traction control and she stopped sliding immediately.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: 2 owners; space in front and back seats are optimal; traction control automatically turns on when car detects tires skidding, hands-free controls for radio and CD player; power locks and windows; safe family car; smooth ride on highway; cruise control; automatic volume adjustment; powerful engine and good passing ability when needed; great trunk space; keyless entry

Cons: MPG could be better, currently 28mpg/hwy;

A Smooth Quiet Ride Wgreat Handling. — I've had an excellent experience with my Impala and would recommend it to any one looking for a 4 door American made sedan. The interior is nice, Chevy did very well with the dash design and the over all flow of the interior. Additionally its roomy I'm 6'2 275 lbs and I fit in the driver seat comfortably. Lastly it handles exceptionally and does pretty good on gas.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: My 2006 Chevy Impala LT : Reliable, handles very well, smooth quiet ride, stylish, roomy, good trunk space, powerful ac/heat, combined Hwy and City I get 28 MPGs

Cons: Only complaint about this car is the quality of the headlight assembly, mine has de-compartmentalize and the chrome finish on the assembly has been peeling off. Hasn't affected function but is an eye sore.

Do Not Buy — it had constant issues. the couple that sold it to me had the transmission, both front wheel bearings, and the alternator replaced and also had the intake gasket leak fixed which i would later find out is a common problem with impalas. they had replaced a lot of the mechanics of the car. what else could break right? three months after i bought it the cam shaft snapped it two. i replaced the whole engine later to find out that this one too had a bad intake gasket. never got that fixed for money reasons. i also had to once again replace the passenger side front wheel bearing. then the radiator sprung a leak so i replaced that as well. all about a month before i decided to sell it. to make a long story short i ended up totaling the car therefore i didnt have to try to sell it.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: it has a lot of room.

Cons: pretty much everything else. the reliability is horrible. Chevy hit an all time low with this one

i really love the car done a few tweeks to it .the 3800 engine has been around for a long time.GM use it in lots of different cars buick pontiac chevy i think most people know that there probably a few things different on performance from car to car ..anyway my car is pretty quick 0 to 60 in 7 seconds and its sounds good has 220,000 miles on it really does not use any oil i use 10 30 pennzoil in it it had 82,000 miles on it when i got it.engine does not have any noise coming from it no ticks of any kind i replaced the front valve cover gasket last year there was no sludge..i change my oil every 4 to 5 thousand miles when i check it and it looks like i just changed it and it has over 3000 mile on it ill check it every now and then till it noticeably darker then i change it.also what most peole never do is have there trans fluid changed ive changed mine 3 times now. i think if my car had a little more engine power it would get some rubber shifting in to second gear its a pretty strong shift at 45oo RPMs.i guess thats all its getting late 12:16 a.m. later people
