My 2000 Vw Jetta — Great car. Only had it for about a year. A lot of memories in the good ol' jetta.

    Pros: leather, heated seats, sunroof

Cons: it's a volkswagen... a lot of $$ for repairs

A/c Broke On This Too, Still Live In The Deep South. — Pretty good-looking car, I loved the blue and orange instrument lights. Pretty peppy for a small engine, overall fun to drive but fairly unreliable.

Good Dependable Car — My mom has owned this car for 5+ years and has put close to 80k miles on the car. Its a workhorse. I've driven it once or twice and its a nice little car. Nothing fancy but very dependable. If you want an inexpensive dependable car this is it.

Super Cute, Clean Car That Serves Well As A High School Or Collage Vehicle. — This car carried me through some of the worst sleet, rain and snow storms you can imagine. It handles very well in any kind of weather. Truly the BEST vehicle for a high school or collage student who drives long distances. It is good on gas (though as it has aged , it has lost a few miles , but it is still good on gas) What I liked least about this car: It sits very low , which wasn't a problem until I had a baby. I still love this car, but it is NOT a family vehicle. However, it was a fantastic car to have as a single collage student !

    Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Incredibly easy to park in small spaces and parallel park!
    The car is super cute!

Cons: It is a small car so it isn't exactly meant for group road tripping. If ever you had to ride in the back seat for any distance it gets uncomfortable pretty quick because there isn't much leg room.

Fuctional — Sound System after market 2X12'' subs and aftermarket Ram Air intake. The Car is awesome because it has a 5 speed transmission which is a riot to drive. Also the back seat is just big enough to have fun in if you need a place. downside the car is small for long trips for more than 2 people.

    Primary Use: Commuting to work

    Pros: 5 Speed

    Cons: Cost

It's German, Need I Say More. — Beautiful style, great design, well built and solid, loaded as standard. Performance is quite spritely considering only 2lts and auto. Cost of ownership is minimal, usual maintenance, although with higher quality(higher price) parts. Mileage good. Still retains it's style after 12 years.

    Primary Use: Family transportation

    Pros: Style, design, construction, drivability

    Cons: ?????

2000 Volkswagen Jetta GLS VR6 Review
    says:
VR6 Engine is a blast to drive, Exhaust is amazing, Car has been very reliable for me despite mine being kindof a pile of crud from the PO, It doesnt look horrid but its front end is still unpainted. Despite being reliable, Certain parts are real cheap, And easy to install, Others are more expensive than they need be and werent built to last and are a pain to replace. A set of motor mounts are over 200$ for stock ones, And the stock ones are garbage and normally dont last long, Some good poly ones are like 370$ and are the only ones id buy. Not worth replacing on my car specifically so..Yeah Doesnt look bad for a 4-Door sedan and im glad to have the Power and Torque from the VR, Its straight piped from the PO and is cammed, Its pretty dang quick for what it is if you stay in its powerband from about 3500Rpms to 5500. Handling is good, For what it is, You cant expect a whole lot from it but I mean, If your a good driver then itll do what you ask and its a forgiving car, Easy to correct mistakes and in my opinion id have to intentionally try to wreck the car to actually get into an accident on my own with it, Its easy to drive even with my totally shot suspension. Now, This car handles very well in the rain, With the ASR doing its job fairly well to an extent that only ends with you giving it too much throttle.. Lol. In the snow, For bring Fwd, This thing was a monster (for a fwd). Im absolutely comfortable driving this thing in snow, A light foot paired with ASR shouldnt leave you stranded and if it does then you shouldve stayed home, or drove something AWD or 4wd.. Chugged through 5 inches of snow a few weeks ago no sweat and didnt pull hardly on the highway and was able to get out of a parking lot going uphill with a snow plow embankment at the top with ease. First gear is Kindof just there. And thats it. Cant really get a good takeoff with this cars first gear and it being Fwd, But 2-5th is a blast and the car keeps pulling and pulling even at 120Mph, With the Manual trans and real good quick shifts that are precisely timed you can outpace most other cars of its type, Not fast, No but its quick, 7 Sec 0-60 for mine at least isnt bad, But nothing special at all. Car isnt slow when driving normal either so its still a bit of fun to drive when not doing stupid shenanigans, Which ive been done with doing for the past long while. Gas mileage is bad, 25mpg when driving normal or even when trying to save gas, Guzzles like crazy if your on the throttle though, Purrs nicely down the highway and isnt bad on long trips either, I like taking long trips in this car on rare occasion. Interior is relatively comfortable for what youd expect from a GLS, Long trips are fine as far as that goes but the higher Trim model seats would be nice, Placement of the tilt steering wheel and pedals is good. Seats should have a way of adjusting them finer for a better seating position, Im constantly changing them a tad. Back seats arent bad but could have a bit more leg room, Trunk space is nice Interior design is about as good as the exterior, Its not bad or ugly but its not good. Better than some cars you see on the road after its time. Placement of the controls on the dash and steering column are fine and normal id say, Shifter location is nice. Now, The bad about the interior, Ooh man, THE DAMN CUPHOLDERS ARE FRIGGIN HORRIBLE, Asbolute garbage and a total joke. Arm rest could be better but its really not as bad as people say, Just adjust it one click below the shifter and its fine. Oh, And the Heater core is actually an easy replacement compared to most other cars from what ive seen. Are there other cars I would much rather have? Oooh yes, Absolutely. Especially since I got totally ripped off on my end but it happens. But for what it is and I have for now, Its done its job very well and despite hating the daylights out of the car and everything about it but the motor and trans. at first, The thing has grown on me, In a few weeks itll be time for it to get a new owner that may like it enough to give it the care it needs, But thats not me.

Value Ranked 1986 Volkswagen GTI Base better.
"A decent condition Mk2 would be a bit cheaper or the same price as a Mk4, They look better, Are easier to work on, Handle better, Are more fun to drive, More comfortable with the higher trim seats, And are more reliable and are just are a nice classic car to own, Gas mileage can beat all but the Mk4 with a TDI engine if your easy on the gas and shift early"
Would Buy Ranked 1986 Volkswagen GTI Base better.
"You get more fun and reliability from a Mk2 Golf if its been taken fair care of, The car is tons of fun, With the Recaro seats the Mk2 Is much more comfortable, Other than the ASR the Mk4 Jetta and Golf dont have a whole lot else on the Mk2 other than more powerful stock engines and although the newer Mk4s are essentially the same setup in a way to work on, There isnt nearly as much room and its a newer car, Its of course going to be harder to do repairs on than an older car"
