Who Needs Sprakplugs? — Being an economical diesel engine this car is a little slower than its gasoline counterparts. But only stock. There are so many easy performance upgrades available, much more than on a gasoline car. These can easily become a very powerful and fast car while maintaining over 40mpg! Try doing that in a Prius or some other egg on wheels. These cars are great all around cars that can be tailored to meet almost any need. All while still being fun and sporty to drive anywhere in any condition. You can not say that about any hybrid. I am a realist and understand this is not the car for everyone, I can't imagine myself ever getting rid of this car. I'll keep it at least in the family and just get a new one. And if BMW ever gets there act together and brings over their excellent diesel cars I would probably switch to one of their cars. But for now, VW is the only company that sells a car that meets and excedes my needs. Regardless of the make or model, for years now I have been proslitizing the many benefits of modern well engineered diesel cars.

Pros: Great mileage and still fun to drive

Cons: Lack of trustworthy mechanics in my area

Slippery When Driven — This is a great commuter car, we get 24 city & 30 Hwy MPG. My biggest issue with this car is the oil consumption almost 1 quart/1250 mile. I have checked with mechanic and word is "thats normal". My daughter drives the car more then anyone and she loves it.

Pros: Awesome car, great MPG

Cons: Oil Consumption

Golf — I loved this car. it was all stock when we bought it. 1st we tinted all the windows (not front screen (that would be silly)), then i dropped it 40mm then added 18"wheels then air intake upgrade, £400 one off twin exit rear box. then rear lights, spoiler etc etc. fantastic car would still have it now if i had my way.

Pros: all

Cons: none

I Like The Car, Not The Problems — Great car for gas mileage and for parking in small places. volkswagens all have electrical problems... boo! My car in currently telling me the car door is open by a constant ding, ding, ding... I can get it fixed for about $350 dollars... I choose not to drive unless it is absolutely necessary. Fun factor- I'd say this car is fun to drive. Would I recommend this car to a friend... no, I'd say get a Honda or a Toyota. I hate for you to ahve to buy German parts $$$$$

Pros: German engineering- looks good and Gas Mileage

Cons: electrical problems and costly maintenance

Golf Tdi 2000 — I love this car, german cars are just superior. Power is OK if you think that its a 1.9 TDI engine. Sure It needs some repairs but no big deal. The diesel engine dont drink at all, I can make like 800 + km on one tink of diesel. Its great with the price of gazoline those days lol. If you look for a car that is realy fun to drive then its the one. I love my Golf :)!!

Pros: Beautiful, Its DIESEL, anything else....

Cons: ...

Great Zippy Little Car — an excellent city car and highway cruiser - small size, but could fit 3 guys and 3 mountain bikes inside

Pros: quick, reliable, nice interior, invisible to police, and good fun in curves

Cons: could've used some more power...

Sporty Run- About — Best overall economic auto transmission car to drive. German engineering is tops in my book. The leather interior and control panel is all solid state of the art German craftsmanship. It's a solid car. It takes corners very well. Turning radius is excellent and the overall performance grips the road. The sports package outfitted the car with sporty rims and spoiler detailing giving the car a finished look.

Pros: Solid piece of German engineering will not disappoint.

Cons: The car does not have alot of boot space so don't even think about lugging your golf clubs unless you put the back seats down.

Bullet-proof — Not the fastest but it still looks great, runs great and get's superb fuel mileage - a must in this day and age of ever increasing petrol prices. The interior is spot on; it is functional and visually appealing at the same time (I forgot about the VW trademark purple/red dash... nice touch). I opted for the 115bhp version for the fact that it is a work commute car. Not too concerned about the total performance package. Still, I do get compliments on it.

Pros: Styling (interior/exterior), comfort, VW reputation, dependability/reliability, great fuel mileage, low operating cost

Cons: Only 115bhp, interior road/engine noise (I'm being nit-picky here) makes it sound like three times that amount of bhp!
