Kia's barebones compact sedan is all about saving money. High fuel economy (23/32) and limited features keep the price down on the 2000 Kia Sephia STD. Powered by a 1.8-liter, 125-hp I4 engine, a 5-speed manual comes standard and a 4-speed automatic transmission is optional. The roomy sedan seats four fairly comfortably for a compact and carries 10 cubic feet of trunk space. But standard equipment is kept to a minimum, with even air conditioning optional.
The 2000 Kia Sephia STD does come with dual front airbags, intermittent wipers, and a rear defogger. If you want a tape or CD player, you have to pay extra. Other options include power steering and a rear spoiler. Drivers of the 2000 Kia Sephia STD like its interior room and the good gas mileage, making it a great starter car. Quality of interior and exterior materials could be better, and drivers say to be prepared to spend a lot of time with your mechanic.

The 2000 Kia Sephia LS sees few changes this year. The higher-end version of this compact economy sedan adds a smattering of more standard features to what you'll get on the base model. The front-wheel drive Sephia LS carries a 125-hp, 1.8-liter I4 engine and standard 5-speed manual transmission. A 4-speed automatic is optional. Sitting on 14-inch wheels, the sedan gets about 23/32 mpg, which is part of its attraction to first-time buyers and city commuters.
A tilt steering wheel, power steering, dual front airbags, intermittent wipers, rear defrost, and a handy center console are about all you get in the 2000 Sephia LS. Air conditioning is still extra, as it is on the base model. It does come with a lot more available options, however, including 4-wheel ABS brakes, cruise control, power windows, locks, and mirrors, and a tachometer. A rear spoiler and alloy wheels are also available. Owners praise the amount of interior space and headroom for a compact car, but the 2000 Sephia LS has a long list of repair issues, most notably with early brake wear.
