Reliable Truck Transportation — I like that it can haul, pull and do everything I need it to do. I wish it would get closer to 20 mpg highway unloaded. I pull a 12' pop up camper and it pulls it well. I load my cruiser motorcycle weighing just under 700 lbs in the bed and it hauls it very well. I have loaded the bike in the bed while pulling a boat and trailer weighing 3100 lbs from TN to CA. I averaged 11 mpg. For a small pick up, it does exceptionally well. I use it as it was designed to be used....it's a truck.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: Very reliable, low maintenance costs

Cons: Engine heads on 4.0L V6 tend to crack, somewhat low fual mileage

Pros: It is a nice looking truck that has allowed me to transport tools and machinary with ease

Cons: Gas Economy and Back Seats

Awesome Truck For Fourwheeling And Getting Through The Snow! — No complaints on this truck, very reliable and well taken care of. I hate to see it go but i need a larger truck to haul. This ranger has done my family awesome. never been stuck in any snow or mud! cant complain about the gas mileagle either

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: 4x4 works awesome, never been stuck, gas isnt to bad

Cons: too small to haul large loads such as a boat!

Great Truck!!!!!!!!!! —

I have my 2000 ranger xlt stepside 3.0 v6 ford truck now for almost 5 years now......mine is a rare color its called ford atlantic blue aka k7 paint code......its just a stand out in a crowd my little truck.....i love my truck ....its the most reliable vehicle i have ever owned..................mine is also a a stepside supercab....i havent had any major mechanical issues with it at all since i bought this truck.....the only things that have gone wrong is a radiator........a alternater ,a battery, and now i need a new a/c compressor........other than that nothing major, and just matenence stuff.....im a mechanic by trade so its a little easier for me to fix my own truck verses a normal person... so matenence or major machanical is no big deal at least for me......and parts are plentiful and cheap....junk yard are full of old ranger jewels with great parts...that you can get for a fraction of the cost........the looks are still great and still get alot of attention...mines in new like shape.......its fun to drive and comfortable and roomy..at least the super cab is...plenty of room to haul all my stuff......its a pleasure to drive...it runs like a sewing machine.....i have over 130,000 miles on mine........i change the oil every 3000 miles and run lucas oil in the engine.........the factory stereo kikcks ass loud as hell ... i added pioneer speakers and it sounds like a concert hall.....i ll never sell my little ford ranger ..its a part of the family........i will eventually drop a v8 small block ford 302 Ho 5.0 out of a mustang in the near future..............and make it the way ford should of made it......in the first place......engine swap is easy on this truck...lmc truck parts sells a v8 swap kit for the ranger and the headers you need to make a v8 fit.........and cheap for the v8 kit...under 200 hundred bucks........

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: I LOVE MY TRUCK !!!!!!!!!! the looks the color everything!!!!!!!!!!!

Cons: I wish it had a v8 with a 6 speed automatic............or six speed manual  ot even a t 5 world classs transmission.....and tilt wheel........other than that nothing as far as cons to me..........i plan i putting a v8 in mine real soon......

Perfect For Your First Truck! — I love the way this truck drives, although it is a a little slow accelerating, it handles nice and everything works pretty good, only a few problems with the tie rods and ball joints but the engine is amazing. i like the exterior style/color better then the interior. it is fun to drive, but it does eat up the gas pretty good. but it deffinatly beats a full-size pickup there.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Fullfills all of your needs, (with 2 smaller seats for the kids and plenty of room for transporting anything) and is fun to drive!

Cons: I used to like fords, but i think the only way it beats a foreign car is on the price tag.

It Is A Good Solid Compact Pickup Truck! — For my Ranger to have a V6 it really does not show it. It only has 150 hp and its not slow but it could use a few extra ponies. The mpg isn't all that great either at just about 15 mpg ( I drive mostly city). Overall Rangers are good quality trucks and this baby is not an exception. This truck is relatively fun to drive but I wouldn't really call it sporty even though it does have the sport package! It is easy to drive, see out of, and is a much better truck than the Toyota Tacoma in terms of build quality.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Rangers are reliable, American, and great looking vehicles!

Cons: Only avoid if 20 mpg is a necessity.

Great High School/college Truck — I bought this truck Junior year of high school 6 years ago and have driven it daily ever since. I never have had any problems or repairs other than the window motor stripping a gear and the car is over 80,000 miles now. Driving on the freeway at 75 I can get 22 mpg, around town it's less, but I don't drive too conservatively. The 3.0L V6 needs more power, but at the same time, it's a bulletproof engine that will keep running forever.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Bullet proof, easy to drive/park, but still a truck

Cons: Needs more power

2000 Ford Ranger — Put it through a tough work load over the years. It was 9 years of driving it before it started wearing and tearing. Its a fun truck to just drive around in or use for work or play. Easy enough to jack up for muddin too. Good ol truck!

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Good work/play truck

Cons: A recent warning about fires in 2000 models
