A Very Good And Strong Family Car — This is a very good family car and all rounder apart from short commute journeys it is not the car for you. It also soes not cope well in the snow as i got stuck on a slight incline with a full tank and all other cars passed me... SAD TIMES

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: I WOULD BUY ANOTHER

Cons: I only hate the the grip in the snow

Bmw Is The Car — It is a very good car, but if you buy it then be sure to buy it with a CD changer a HID face left head lights, parking sensor, heated seats, automatic, alloy weals 16" or more, and with trip computer.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: smooth driving, fully equipped, safe, repayable

Cons: service cost to high but still if you install a new item it will last for very long some might last for 10 years.

Great Car For A City Without Winters — the car handles great on dry land, but once the suface gets wet or icy your in trouble. in snow, also the cup holders suck, doesnt hold a drink when they work but they mostly break off anyway. other then that its great

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: looks damn good

Cons: bad in snow

My Thoughts On My Car —

This car is the quintessential rear wheel drive perfromance platform. 50/50 weight distribution means you can go surprisingly hard into corners. DSC means if you get a little too crazy in a corner the car has your back and WILL go in whatever direction the steering wheel is aimed. That is really what made me love driving the e39, the DSC. The styling is the reason I was drawn to it in the first place. I think this car and the first gen (B5) Audi A4 are the 2 best looking sedans that have ever been made (coincidentally i had one of those previously). Dumb little stuff breaks a lot (parts of interior trim, cupholders, headlight adjusters, abs module), parts can be fairly expensive. preventitive maintenance is critical. I wouldn't be able to afford to pay someone else to work on this car but luckily i don't have to. Gas mileage is solid. 17 driving around town, 25-28 on the highway. The I6 leaves you really wanting more power unless you floor it, but its more reliable than the V8. Opt for the sport package and DSC and the car is fun to drive. Add a V8 and EDC (electronic dampening control) and there is no better way to get around. You literally cannot feel bumps in the road, its surreal.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Fun to drive, looks hot

Cons: expensive to own (or at least take proper car of)

A Special Bmw Wagon — This is my 2000 BMW 540i Touring, aka M5 WGN. It is extensively customized as if BMW had produced an M5 wagon for the E39 model (they only made the sedan). It was customized by Dinan Motors in CA: supercharger, suspension, ss exhaust, strut brace. It was then trimmed out as an M5: M5 brakes, wheels, mirrors, steering wheel, interior & exterior trim (including replacing the stock headliner with black felt to mimic the Alcantara leather in the sedan). It's been dyno tested and pulled 400hp. This wagon is fast, luxurious and a proud member of the Roadrunner BMW Car Club in Phoenix.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: This wagon loves to munch on unsuspecting tuner cars, Mustangs and the occasional Porsche!

Cons: Like any BMW, not cheap to repair but I've had no serious problems with this car.

Bmw 528 — Best car I have ever owned! Great road trip car. 28 mpg low maintenance cost since I've owned it. Safe size I feel if I was t-boned I wold survive. Braking is excellent, high speed performance in excess of 140

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: safe, handle great, ride smooth.

Cons: to much rear negative camber in rear wheels excessive tire wear.

Wow! We Use The Car For Everything But Will Put Commuting As Primary Use... — This is the best car I've ever owned or driven. If you want performance and luxury blended with safety, I highly recommend this as your daily or distance driver. I've been on several LONG distance trips in this car and my wife and I prefer to drive rather than fly now...enough said!

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Too many to list...

Cons: Weak cooling system but can be reliable with diligent servicing.

........ — Overall the best car you could ever own. Once you have a BMW you'll never be satisfied with anything else. Mine is the top of the line with sport package/nav....everything. You must have the service done and take proper care of your car. Rotate your tires...they will last longer. Change your oil, your engine will thank you. Have you transmission serviced regularly...very important on a 5 series BMW. Do this and it will last 300k trouble free miles. I have put that much on my other 3 BMW's and have no doubt this one will last that long. Others BMW's owned X5 4.4, 328i, 330i (still have).

Pros: handling

Cons: gas milage
