2000 Audi A6 4.2 quattro Sedan AWDReview

Audi A6 — I miss this car. Electronic wise...not the strongest, Audi has never been known to have an electrical system that stood the test of time. Drivability...almost beyond compare. It drives like silk and the sound of the 4.2 when you hit the gas...pretty much orgasmic. With low-profile tires this thing just sticks to the curves and turns and can easily glide along the asphalt at 100 mph without you even realizing it. It is a work of art...truly. Audi knows how to make a car worth driving. There is nothing quite like hitting the gas and feeling the pull of a 4.2 liters, the growl of the V8 as it takes off.

Pros: The smooth as silk ride and the fun!

Cons: electronic system that can reak havoc on your wallet

Great Sedan — Great car! I didn't notice the flaws unti I bought a newer one. Living in Houston the cooling system gave me a few concerns but never serious problems. The build quality and ride comfort were great. The 2.7t and the 6spd manual where a great combination.

Pros: ride and performance

Cons: cooling system

Audi A6 2.7t Quattro — Considering it's an 8 year old 4 door she hangs really well with the current 4 door commuters in terms of performance. Tiptronic does 0-60 (mph) in 6.5 seconds, the manual is supposed to in 6 flat. Brakes are a little touchy but you get the feel for it. Acceleration feels amazing due to great torque, 258 ft lbs at 1850 rpm. Solid car inside and out, but signs of age are starting to show, needs a tune up and some detail work. Aside from little things the car itself is beautiful and the only real sign of it's age would be the front end. Small grill and some pretty standard headlights.

Pros: Style, performance, fun factor.

Cons: Premium gas

I Was Scared To Buy An Audi, But Happy I Did. — Overall, I love it. at 110,000 miles, it still takes off from the line. Handling, is awesome, braking power is astonishing (4 pads and dual pistons per front rotor). Quattro system gives me confidence during snowboarding trips. Its appearance/design is timeless...ages well. Gas mileage is above par for its power, averaging 25 mpg during mixed driving.

Pros: Maintenance has been cheap an affordable in the SF Bay Area

Cons: Audi has a rep for high maintenance costs

Audi A6 Avant 1.8-20v — Because of the small engine, acceleration is not very good but it´s enough. Handling is one of the best sides of Audi A6. Build quality was positive surprise. Nothing to complain so far. Interior in -00 A6 is very nice. It is simple and practical but also good looking. This car is very roomy, especially back seats are great. 1.8-20v engine without turbo is too small of course but in the other hand it doesn´t consume that much. It is something like 8.9 litres per 100 km approx. Maintenance costs are much more lower than in my past Mercedes w124. This Audi is a very good car. It´s a lot of car for the money.

Pros: Handling, room, looks, quality

Cons: Acceleration

The Biggest Disappointment — It sucked. I put in so much $$ in repairs for this car. I dumped it after 12 months.

Pros: A great luxury car. Very very smooth

Cons: Completely unreliable. Repairs were sooooo expensive.

Broke Down A Lot — Audi a6 2.7tt Quattro. had an amazing motor and driving feel. One of the nicest interior for the cost i think. Mis it alot naw that its gone, best winter car ever with the quattro system and solid set of winter tires. On a snowy day on christmas 06 left 40 mins after my friend parents on the coke and arrived 2 hour before them (they had a 2000 dodge durango)

Pros: Nice looks and the twin turbo V6 was amazing (loved it) one of the nicest interiors

Cons: Broke down a lot. 7 k in repair bills in 2 years

Car Is Constantly Being Repaired — This thing never works 100. It runs great when it's right but the times it's right are few and far between.

Owner for 1 years, 3 months

Miles Driven per Year:20,000

Pros: Great driver. Looks and handles excellent.

Cons: Constantly breaking.

Extremely Powerful, deceptively Roomy Inside, I'm Glad I Purchased The Car. — I just bought a 2000 Audi A6, 2.7L. Twin-Turbo, from a private seller. The car is not stock. The previous owner added a few performance parts, including chips, air filters, etc. The A6 is deceptively roomy inside and has more options/buttons than a Boeing 747 cockpit. The car handles very well and the Twin_Turbos are a great addition, thus, making this mid size luxury car, quit the Sleeper. I'm extremely happy and can't wait for my first winter driving experience in my All-Wheel drive Audi A6.

Pros: Interior space, engines power, quattro all-wheel system, handeling.

Cons: Only from what i'm hearing from others, is the cost of repairs/maint.

If I Knew The Cost To Repair I'd Have Bought Something Else. — At 77,000 miles my car's torque converter broke. VERY expensive to repair -$3,400. I called Audi America Customer Care. Told them the deal, how disapointed I was and pointed out that even Chrysler gives a life time gaurantee on these parts. They said to spend 120 bucks at an Audi dealer and they would consider absorbing the cost. So I did, and waited 2 days. Then Audi said -"NOPE" Made me very dissapointed. I was going to buy an A8 next year. Now I'll be buying a Lexus.

Owner for 3 years, 7 months

Miles Driven per Year:10,000

Pros: fast and comfortable.

Cons: Totally unreliable.  Cost to repair should be on the invoice.
