Great Car For The Price, But Watch For Little Defects. — its got good performance and all that jazz. runs well, no major problems, but it seems to be the little things that go wrong with it. for example the windshield wiper motor went out, and was expensive to fix. same story with the air control switch. good car, expensive minor details.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: great little car, great handling, great acceleration, smooth, you're in full control

Cons: annoying little fixes that cost lots

Loved It As My First Car! — I loved my Jetta. SO cute. Went forever. Exactly what I wanted as my first car. I miss it. :( It was inexpensive too! I got a really great deal. Fun to drive, baby! :) I just wish it had been newer so I could still have it.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: It's so cute :)

Cons: It's expensive to fix.

Ok — over all performance is good, looks is ok, handling is decent. the newer ones are better for both. wish the backseat had more leg room. maintenance is a little pricey, so is any mechanical work that might be need, both parts and labour.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Cons: maintenance

Love It! — Drives well, brakes well, handles GREAT, pretty reliable, looks great in and out, good gas mileage, easy to maintain, SOOOOOO much fun to drive. I love this car and plan on keeping it until I have children of my own. One day it'll be lowered, flat white with a black roof, have a roof rack, and some nice 17x8's up front and 17x9's out back.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: lots of fun, handles great, comfy, looks great.

Cons: aftermarket parts for German cars are expensive as helllll

Ehh Its A Pretty Good Car — Its only a 4 cyl. but it really puts all of it on the road. Very low center of gravity makes handling perfect. Small car very easy to get through tight spots. Parking is almost never a problem. Fun car in general.

Pros: The sound system.

Cons: Lack of power.

Hold On — The performance is great for a ballsy 4 cylinder engine and allot of highway on ramp accelerator power. The build quality isn't too great the parts could be put together better and made better but still good. The appearance is beautiful and stunning. what can i say it's German Design! The cost of ownership can be expensive because of the german parts and the way it was designed, also the availability of the parts. But like BASIC maintenance is pretty cheap This is the funniest car i have ever driven in before and it always puts me back in my seat, so I would hold on.

Pros: The styling, and the performance

Cons: The Check Engine Light almost always comes on and you can't shut it off some times, and the Transmission shift points are stupid so it will make it slip sooner and easier in the transmission's life.

"der Vienershnitzel" — It's a Volkswagen, I love and hate it for that reason. It's one of the slowest Jettas made, but I drive it like it's a race car. In spite of the issues it has mechanically and electronically, it's a blast to drive. If only I had a sunroof...

Pros: I get around 28 mpg driving it like a bat out of Hell.

Cons: I was beat by a soccer mom at a red light last week. ):

1999 Vw Jetta 2.0 (manual) — Great build quality, minimal repairs. Good options and good choice of interior materials. Pleasing yet practical styling in typical VW manner. The performance on the 2.0 liter is reasonably snappy, and good on gas, but not a huge thriller on the straights. Gearbox is slightly clunky. However, great handling with compliant ride quality make it a fun and economical city car.

Pros: Build quality, handling, ride quality, economy

Cons: perfomance, gearbox

Yes —

I like the car in general, but it's little slower than I would like. Being my first car I can't really complain. It's pretty good on gas and has a good range considering how hard I drive it. I like the look of the car and color, but I hated the stock wheels so I put 17" MSW Type 11's on it and it really looks good. I've looked up the wheels on the internet to see what other people have done with them and I personally like my application better than on an A3. I put Coninental ProContact rubber on them and can only rave about what they can do for a not-so-powerful car. I have had some issues with reliability. We've replaced the windshield wiper transmission ($1000+), a wheel speed sensor for a little under $100, and the catalytic converter ($800+) but the cat was replaced under warranty. My AC no longer works, but I have yet to fix it. The tranny is pretty good but I wish it was a manual and the engine sound is nice but I wish I had an exhaust to make it that much better. The sound system is pretty good for an entry level car. The interior is not bad for plastic, but the black really heats up the car in the summer. I

Pros: engine sound

Cons: front-wheel drive
