Good Getting Around Town Car. — Good car, decent fuel mileage. Fun to drive. Shame it drinks premium.

Pros: You can get the v6 and 5-speed together on the 626, that you can't on the mx6.  Fast enough to get you around most people at a light, or on ramp.

Cons: replacing cv joints, buying premium gasoline

Nice, But Not A Reliable, Well-made Car. — The Mazda 626 was a nice-looking car, but it was not reliable. Every few months, something went wrong with it, whether it was something small or large. I had to have the transmission and power pack replaced. The timing belt broke. It cost more to keep the car than it did to buy it.

Pros: Good acceleration, comfortable, nice appearance.

    Cons: Electrical problems, transmission problems.

Most Wonderful Car I've Ever Owned! — Absolutely beautiful car. Great value. Rides well. Comfortable driver's position. Pleasing interior color scheme for dash and seats. Huge trunk. Nice finish. Nicely organized dashboard. This is the best car I have ever owned over my 40 years of car ownership. The Mazda 6 is a poor follow-on: bloated, too expensive for what it is, with a dash from Trashville.

    Miles Driven per Year:9,000

Pros: Subdued but beautiful styling. Nicely finished. Good performance.

Cons: Snotty dealers dis the car and give you a lousy trade-in.

Tranny Problems — The automatic I4 models from around the '99 model year have known problems with the transmission. Mazda used a weaker transmission from the Ford Probe in this model. As a result, I had to get the transmission replaced no less than 3 times before getting rid of the piece.

    Pros: Comfortable interior.

Cons: Bad transmission.  Weak 4 cylinder engine.

Nice And Reliable Until Over 100k — Bought the car new. No problems other than paying the dealer top $ for 60k maintenance. However, after 100k car developed problems with transmission, sensors and other little things.

    Pros: came fully loaded

Cons: life span is less than expected

Other Than The Fact The Repairs Are Quite Expensive, I Love It. — As far as the car's acceleration, braking and handling I don't actually know because I'm still doing some repairs to it (head gasket, fuel pump , brakes, etc.). The car did come with a fully equipped Kenwood 1800 watts amp professionally installed in the trunk that was pretty loud and nice. It also came with some nice shiny rims by the brand Bigg Wheels.

    Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Pros: I love the red cherry color with the tan leather seats. The seats are comfortable and I absolutely love the power front seats being that I'm only 5 ft tall, I can easily slide my seat up. Oh and can I say power windows are a hit.

Cons: To be completely honest I haven't actually driven the car yet because I'm doing some repairs slowly but surely.
