99 Taurus — This car is a reliable car to get you form point a to point b. although its not exactly the quickest car i ever droven. The build quality is alright only had a starter kick out on me which isn't unusaly cause its a 99 and i'm not complaining. Gas mileage is super for a 6 cylinder i've gotten 43 my best on highway and 41 worst conditions. Fun to drive though very good handling in terms of performance/road course driving.

Pros: gas mileage/handling

Cons: slow..not the quickest car out their for sure.

Overall A Decent Car — I am fairly impressed with the car, I have had some problems with mine, but I bought it second hand and I am not sure how many of the problems were from that. I have had to replace the rack and pinion at 97,000 but that is about the only real problem I have had with it.

Owner for 1 years, 2 months

Miles Driven per Year:2,500

Plenty Of Interior Space, Lacks All Else. — For a 24Valve 3.0L v6 the cars performance is surprisingly pathetic. The interior seemed to hold up decently after 130k plus miles of beening driven. The stock sound system wasnt all bad execpt for the fact that compact disc wasnt a standard feature. Honestly the car doesnt deserve the SE "Special Edition" badge that Ford gave it.

Pros: Comfy for long trips.

Cons: Everything else.

Reliable, Great On Fuel! — This car was great for all the years I had it. Great gas mileage and smooth ride. Expect problems to arise with this car as it's almost 10 years old now....

Pros: Fuel economy, ride, handling, legroom and large trunk.

Cons: A little too low to the ground for taller people.  Tough to get a good view through the round rear window.  Some interior and exterior parts were a bit on the cheap side.

Pros: ROOMY, INDESTRUCTABLE

Cons: 225,000 miles....

This Is A Perfect Buy For First-time Drivers And Buyers On A Tight Budget. Reliable, Inexpensive! — This car has been to hell and back. I recieved at 118k miles and replaced the engine (previous owner overheated it and cracked the heads). HAVE HAD NO MAJOR PROBLEMS!! Normal wear and tear on suspension parts, replaced the heater core, and had to replace the starter once. NO RUST!! Now at 165k miles, has been through 2 severe accidents and still runs like new. For every repair, all parts came right off, and reassembled with no issues; this car is a dream to work on. A little sloshy in turns, but hey, this isn't a Mustang. :D I have the 3.0L V-6 Vulcan Engine with OHC and I am able to pull 30mpg everytime I fill up so long as I practice proper mileage techniques (drafting, SLOW DOWN, easy accelerations, hypermileing) I cannot recomend the quality, durablity, and reliability of 1996-1999 Ford Taurus.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Reliable, Fuel Efficient, enough power for the job, easy maintanance if any needed at all.

Cons: Handling in turns at speed, slightly underpowered, not the greatest looking car.

Not Bad Used If You're Looking To Go Decent With A Family Vehicle. — I recently bought this car off my mother for $200. She got it from a private owner about 8-10yrs ago for $5000. There are multiple problems with it, showing age, but it runs pretty good. Performance and handling are very good for its shape. The quality could use some work. The transmission's going, heater core is shot, driver side door is dented badly from an accident and my husband just fixed the window to help it roll down, driver side mirror needs fixing and so does the passenger side mirror, and supposedly the engine has a small crack in it somewhere. With appearance, I did mention about the driver side door, but theres some bumps and bruises around the car. Cost of Ownership is decent. Being fun to drive.. I wish I had a newer car, but I'm happy I have something to get by.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Family Oriented, Reliable

Cons: After about 8yrs or so, used, it wears down.

Sho Time — This thing is HOT! For a '99 it has held up fairly well. I'm not sure where it has been but there are a few battle scars. Maintenance is a pain as most mechanics don't have a clue how these things work. But, when you stomp the throttle it goes like hell! 9/10 - The miles are adding up so I'm looking for a junker to take it's place in my daily commute to work.

Pros: Power, Handling, Comfort

Cons: Cost of maintenance
