Great Value, Good Performance — The 1998 Jetta, built in Mexico, handles exceptionally well for the cost. New, it was priced under $20,000 with a fairly loaded package. The car has retained its residual value, and is still worth anywhere from $4-$7K depending on condition. The car has a good track record mechanically, and the manual transmission is fun to drive. The sound system is also solid. Good gas mileage -- 30+ miles on the highway.

Pros: fun to drive, reliable, good gas mileage

Cons: a little on the small and light side

If You Want To Save Gas Money But Have Some Driving Fun, Its A Pretty Good Car. — Well, being a BMW man myself, I wondered if it was wrong for me to purchase a VW, but after some long hard thought, I have come to a conclusion...... ITS NOT! Now if I bought a Benz, it would be a different story. The car looks alright, I do love the half "smoked" tail lights that came with it, and its not the ugliest thing out there at all. It was not built to look like a super car, so its not to bad for what it is. The Build Quality seems good for now, but i did buy this off a friend who treated it like his 4th child, so I will see how the car lasts in the future. Its only pumping 115hp, but it was not built to be fast. It takes corners pretty well for a family car, and with the 5speed, its still fun to drive.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: It's good on Gas

Cons: It's not fast at all

Front Seats Ranked 1995 Oldsmobile Achieva 4 Dr S Sedan better.
"two separate seats. shifter between. seat belts on the door. the jetta seats are smaller, the ceiling is lower, its not as easy to move the seats. "
Family Car Ranked 1995 Oldsmobile Achieva 4 Dr S Sedan better.
"achieva is 100x safer, has more room, is a larger car. the jetta is significantly smaller and for shorter people in my opinion. im small so i like it, but its not a family car. its more for teenagers and young adults. "

I love this car, is very economical and plus it doesn’t have many miles. The only thing I do recommend is to have a lower cost, since it was very used from the inside. Read More
