4 Wheel Drive Stick Shift And A 3 Liter — A good truck for everyday running around and some weekend fun. Takes you where you need to go in the woods and 4 wheel drive makes the truck a true off roader with a lot of potential. Gas mileage is ok and sometimes is hard to hookup the rear tires when coming off the line. handles the corners like any other truck would and makes a statement with the bright blue paint job.

Pros: It's a truck
4X4
Beautiful blue paint
Extended cab
Loud stereo
Excelent 4X4 low pulling power
stickshift: powerfull launches and awesome burnouts
signature Ford sound at high RPMs
Gas mileage

Cons: A 3 liter doesn't have the power.
2 wheel drive can't get you outta of much mud
145k miles (can't put on a supercharger)

Damn Good First Car — this is my first car and i think its been a pretty good one so far. its got about 195,000 miles on it and it runs like its fairly new. it has ok acceleration, which is good for a young driver i think. great handling as its not too loose and not too tight. the brakes are fantastic because their not so touchy that you barely hit the brake and you slam your head on the steering wheel and not so stiff that you have to slam both feel on them to slow down. i cant really talk about the interior as it would vary because of previous owners, but i will say that the interior of mine feels good and is very comfortable. all in all id say its a very nice starter truck and i would consider getting a newer model later on.

Pros: overall great performance, comfortable interior, fuel efficient, looks good

Cons: doesnt give a whole lot of leg room, some reason my locks are messed up and the passenger door wont unlock from the outside easily or sometimes at all

Not A Bad Truck But Not A Towing Vehicle — This is not a bad truck for carrying small things like lawn mowers or furniture, but anything larger will have the drivetrain working overtime. It comes with a 3 liter V6 engine and the one that I drove (my father's) was 5 speed. I enjoyed the fact that it was stick but it just was not responsive and the clutch set-up was too soft for me. I do like the fact that this particular model could run on Ethanol (E85). Also the interior lacked in style and overall finish (most of it was plastic). Not a bad truck for practical uses (which is what it was built for), but not for someone looking for a lot of torque.

Pros: practicality,mileage (24 city, 28 highway)(w/ 5 speed), space for compact truck

Cons: power, torque, style

Good Truck For A Single Man — This truck lasted me through a marriage, three jobs, the birth of two kids, and college.... and is still going strong! The upgraded 2.5L engine a huge improvement over 2.3L in older models. Plenty of power in 2WD Rangers. Truck has great visibility during driving, and a comfortable ride. Currently, this truck is owned by my bro: who blew the engine up on a newer, "better" truck!

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Great interior room for one to two passengers.  Reliable, tough motor.  Fuel economy good.
200,000+ miles, only replaced steering stabilizer bushings, front right wheel bearings, cat.

Cons: Weak AC system:  '98 model "Blend door" sprocket made of plastic.  WILL BREAK, very expensive to fix.

Its A Keeper! — Very reliable truck. 164,000 miles, 2 clutches ( first one under warranty the dealer said the through-out bering made a strange sound when they were serving it at 12,000 mi. I never herd it), 2 mufflers ( 1 due to a rock on a job sight, the replacement rusted out). All other repairs were due to normal ware. handles pretty good for a truck, very good in snow and off road when needed. Acceleration is adequate, but a few more horses under the hood wouldn't hurt. After 12 yrs and 160,000+ miles it has fewer riddles and squeaks than many newer lower mileage trucks. This is a base model truck, it doesnt even have carpet. the only options are A/C, Stereo radio with cassette player, and 4 wheel drive. I had a spray in bed liner installed ( very smart move).

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Reliability and go almost any where any time.

Cons: none

I Love My Truck, Its Fits What I Need Right Now — I love my truck; good on gas, runs nice, reliable. I can still hall stuff back and forth to and from college, or do little things like get wood and transport animals. Have only had one prob with it; transmission problems.Cons are its small and no power. Spark plugs are also hard to replace.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: good on gas

Cons: small, no power

Excellent little truck. With a cap it was able to be used as my camping truck where I stored gear and slept along with my dog. Loved this truck!

Great little truck mine had three hundred and forty thousand miles on it when the tranny went the tranny was rebuilt at 160000 the only problem I had was the frames tend to rust the back leaf spring shackles are particularly bad spot I would recommend cleaning and painting the whole frame to prevent this I worked my truck hard its whole life wasnt afraid to drive it hard and it took it no problem. Mine had the 4.0 automatic transmission change the oil every five to six thousand miles with 10 w30 Valvoline maxlife synthetic blend truck does great off road and in snow mine was 4 wheel drive though
