V6 Mondeo — With V6 performance and low down torque these cars are great value for money and a lot of car for very little cash. Great reliability, a little thirsty on fuel but overall a great car and you'll never tire of the exhaust note and V6 burble.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: The engine noise

Cons: Fuel economy

Fantastic Mondeo — I love this car. Have had this car for 2 years now and this year it'll turn 15 years old and it still drives amazingly! The engine I have is a 2.0 4 Cylinder Zetech engine with 134 horsepower! Its a very quirky car and its decent in speed. Gets to 60mph/100km in around 10 sec and will easily do 130 km. Engine is great, brakes great, confortable. Long trips is no problem in this car The only problem I have atm. is that the airconditioning isn't working and its expensive to repair and also minor rust problems, but nothing big! Fuel economy, its a little expensive

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Styling (ST model looks)
Comfortable
Good for long drives
Engine is quick and responsive
Quit inside
Good family car

Cons: Fuel Economy
Minor rust issues
Airconditioning isnt working

Good Allrounder. — A very well handling car. Fun to drive. However aged looks, and really now just kill it and get it over with. Fuel economy is not that good compared to newer models out there. Overall build quality is average, but drive train will just keep going for ever. Everything round the drivetrain will eventually fall of.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: handling

Cons: front seats

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Quite discreet but quick and drives well

Cons: So many on the road so poor value

Can't Really Say Where All That Fuel Was Going... — I drove that car across Europe a few times and it was an excellent cruiser, very comfortable and stable at the same time. I juste loved it. BUT, the fuel consumption, especially in the city, was far too much (13,5l/100km for a maximum 12 that I would have found normal). The engine was otherwise bullet proof. Spare parts and service costs were good, better than those at Renault for sure, which is the only direct comparison that I could do. Overall an excellent car let down by a primitive yet reliable engine.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: very comfortable and nice handling

Cons: fuel consumption

St24 — The performance for the car is quick for a car of this weight and size plus the fact it is a family car that is 11 years old, braking has been definatly improved on from the 2.0ltr 16v version and the handling improved on giving greater confidence in corners. Apart from usual servicing the cars build quality is good though there is a squeak from the boot. I like the apperance of the car and though there are many other body kits out there I wouldn't personally change it. You can get 32mpg driving correctly but when put through its paces mpg can be as low as 18. As this is an engine designed from Mazda some parts are more expensive than normally would be expected from Ford but still not as expensive as other cars. Plus you can buy one of these motors from as little as £700 now. I love to drive this car cruising or going that bit faster great comfort with a sporty feel.

Pros: Family car sporty perfomance

Cons: As with all powerful cars fuel cost but that is what you should expect when looking to buy a quick car

Mondeo V6 Ghia X Estate - Why Bother With German Cars? —

Paid a shade over £6k when it was 2½ years old, with 91k on the clock, no problems & a FSH, HPI clear. It was over £23k new (for a Ford?) 'cos it's the V6 Ghia X estate. Now with over 266k on the clock it's still goes like stink & gets over 30mpg (wish I'd had an LPG conversion). Even though it's a pretty big estate (with all that useful load lugging space) it's not a heavy car so power-to-weight is around 120bhp/tonne, making it GTI fast (170bhp). Don't buy the auto & much fun to be had out-dragging reps in their diesel Audis, Vectras etc. Truly astonishing handling for an estate car - it's so controllable when pushing hard... this is a 10 year old Ford that's properly fun to drive. Reliable & cheap to run if you use a local garage (no main dealers) anyone can fix a Mondy. The only bad thing is the group 16 insurance. Just protect your no claims & be a good boy/girl (aka don't get caught) & it won't bankrupt you. It's comfy too - cruise control, heated leather seats, etc. Build? After all those miles, still nothing is falling off. Appearance? Well it's a Mondeo. It won't win any beauty contests, but park it anywhere & it'll attract precisely no unwanted attention. Over 175k miles from a £6k car makes a total mockery of those pence-per-mile car running figures. I'll miss it like hell when it finally has to go...

Pros: Handling & speed, price & costs, practicality & comfort, reliability & ubiquity.

Cons: Group 16 insurance, mpgs on urban cycle, auto is too slow
