It's Definitely A Keeper — First and foremost, as far as performance goes, its transmission is shot, brakes are good and handling is close to perfect. My ford jerks alot when in motion but it doesn't rattle or spueak. The color is dark green with no dents or paint chips but the interior is a little lacking.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: great gas mileage

Cons: needs new transmission

It Was Ok. — It was good for what i used it for. I used it as a truck. Pretty darn decent off-road and had a good 4wheel drive system. lacked clearence in some spots. Autotrac is nioce in snow, but a 2wd option would be handy. overall it was ok

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: space practicality

Cons: ball joints have issues along with a couple other things

Eh? — Performance overall is not great. Will go without the air conditioner. The interior could use a definite upgrade. Mine is in near perfect appearance so i would say good but they definitely aren't pretty. I average around 21 in the summer and 18 during the school year. I have a manual. General offroading is ok. The ride is no good though.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: The turning radius is epic.

Cons: The interior by far. Performance is a little low as well.

Solid Typical Ford — transmission is a lot rougher than i like, even with it being a new one. noisy and rough ride. typical explorer chassis squeaks. suprisingly agile if you know how to drive it. gas mileage kills me so i WILL be looking for another car. even still, solid as a rock

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: solid solid solid

Cons: TRANSMISSION

Mr Jones ... — I don't call it Mr Jones for nothing. It's old, broken and tired. I personally think he looks better covered in mud. He would be a better car to drive if it wasn't for a bent torsion bar and frame. But I guess that's what you get after hitting a wall during the rain on the freeway. It's a definite trip to ride in my car. I miss the off roading and dirt drifting days.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: it's still running...

Cons: it's broken

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: 5 spd, everything else

Ford Explorer '98 — It's pretty good for a base model '98. its sorta cheap feeling in the materials used, but goes like nothing else from the era. Also pretty low insurance. All in all, its very good value for money, and get me all the way to my next car.

Pros: goes real good in the snow

Cons: on the low end of vehicle quality
