Redneck Truck — It is all stock. Has cut off exhaust louder than stock but not to loud. Has mud tires and usually has mud on it.

Pros: still running with almost 200000 miles

Cons: has some engine problems that cause for not so good gas milage

Good Looking Truck But Engine Blew At 108k — Nice truck to do extras too. can make truck look real nice, i only had a V-6 in it so it didnt have much power and the engine blew at 108K so i was very dissappointed with that

Pros: Good looking truck

Cons: had to replace many things that i shouldnt of had to

Good Basic Truck — first year of the new body introduction, the one i refer to is my fathers, decent truck, extremly basic. he did not maintain it well and had to replace the motor, but still runs decently, v6 4 spd rwd, basic! but i recently drove it to a dj gig with a friend an hour each way loaded with equipment, not a single problem

Pros: good truck

Cons: gas tank

312,000 Miles And Still Running — This is the lariat model and the leather and cd player are nice. Stock radio and speakers sound great but placement of the cd changer is inconvienent. The exterior seems to hold up very well and this is a powerful truck. Over 300,000 miles on the truck. It has original engine and tranny with no major repairs to the engine. Great truck!!!

Pros: long lasting
interior is very classy
great ride
4 wheel drive makes it impossible to get stuck

Cons: needs the 5.4L V8 instead of the 4.6
6 disk changer is in a bad spot

Good Looks But Hard On Gas Plus Not A Lot Of Interior Space — - good drivability for a truck - looks great with chrome trim - styling isnt too outdated for a 1997 - makes you look mean and strong :P

Pros: gives you presence and good for hauling

Cons: not a good people mover

Bruce Almighty!!! — I got Bruce when we lost Vallory. He's pretty tough! I wouldn't be too eager to try & chase him down, he's liable to run you over!!

Pros: Big, mean & built ford tough!!

Cons: Not a lot of cab room.

Served Us Well — Bought the truck in late 96 when they first came out. This truck was taken very well care of. The ONLY money ever spent on it was regular mantenience and tires- for 160,000 miles. I've always been impressed with that. Couldnt have been more reliable.

Miles Driven per Year:15,000

Cons: 4.6L(281) V8 does NOT have any power whatsoever. get the 5.4

Extrodanary — Now over 100,000 miles, replaced tires twice, brakes twice. The only problems I have had has been with ingition coils--twice on that issue. Electric door locks replaced once. Other than some minor paint checking on the hood and left fender I have had no problems to speak of. I am running the 5.4 V-8 wish it had been available at 350HP and rear disc brakes. The 150 rides much like a car, good vision all around, relatively quit interior, good radio and CD player. Just wish they were still building the Lighting. That was my next choice for a replacement truck. Maybe one day it will show up again.

A Working Truck. — No rattles or squeaks (and this is Michigan where 1 winter usually does in most vehicles). The ride is comfortable and quiet. This is my 4th F150. and I've found them all to be hard working and reliable. I had another 1997 with the 5.4L V8 and the power difference between the 5.4 and the 4.6L is substantial. If you have a choice, get the 5.4L (but also know that it costs more to maintain).

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: 4WD, ride, comfort, handling.

Cons: 4.6L V8 is a little weak for this truck.

A Pragmatist's Dream — This model was chosen for its simple ergonomic design. The bench seat allows ease of entry and exit. This truck is no frills and thus extremely reliable and low maintenance. Maintenance costs are low as the model has been around forever and it seems mechanics feel confident around them. Driving is comfortable and spacious. Visibility is great. Open and airy feeling. Six cylinder gets around 17 mpg in town. Not a particularly high performing vehicle but not underpowered either. Braking smooth and confident. Would recommend this truck highly for a new driver for its ease of handling and virtually no electronic distraction from driving experience.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Simple, no frills, utilitarian design. Extremely reliable. Low maintenance costs. Easy to drive and handle

Cons: Not luxurious. A bit noisy on highway due to lack of insulation.
