Be Aware Of This Truck If You Don't Know What You Are Getting Into — Okay if you are ever going to buy a late model ford f-150 you better steer clear of it especially if it has the 4.2 litter v-6. Ford was dumb enough to put aluminum heads on a cast Iron block and they didn't machine the heads to were the heat could get out quickly so around 80000 miles it throws the connecting rod through the oil pan and runs your motor of course then the idiots building it put plastic in the front wheel bearings and they are junk we had them rebuilt about 2000 miles ago and it doesn't get very good fuel economy it only gets about 17 and 19 if you are lucky. My advise to anybody wanting to buy a truck like this just be prepared to deal with cheap manufacturing. Ford won't even admit that they had problems with this motor. Also if you buy the manual transmission its notorious for burning clutches

Pros: It runs and it was cheap to buy

    Cons: poor quality all together

'97 Ford F-150 — Ok well this truck is my first truck and I completely enjoy driving it. Its a 2wd V8, and it runs like a dream. The only problems I have experienced with it would be the countless recalls on the cruise control, exhaust, seat mounts, and so on and so on... So I would totally recommend this car to a friend because it is a great ride!

    Pros: Handling, Traction, Towing,

Cons: Recalls, Stock stereo system and CD player

Best Truck Since 1975 — I love my 1997 Ford F-150 Lariat. It was previously owned by a doctor so it was taken care of. Gas kinda sucks on it but thats alright i guess! Of course since it is a truck it is hell of fun to drive. And the 5.4L Triton has PLENTY of get up and go and torque for hauling.

    Pros: FORD!

    Cons: Half Ton

All Over Its A Great Truck And Ill Keep Rebuilding It Till It Cost To Much. — Love my V-8 engine with a 4.6L. Good pick up, great top speed. Overall apperence is awesome, only downside is that all three of my doors are rotting at the bottom and need to be replaced and my step bars into the truck have rust holes in them. I have 17" super swappers on them, with an upgraded suspension and towing package. Looking to put a lift kit on it this summer for an increse of 6".

    Pros: Sharp Looking

Cons: Rust is starting to show

1997 Ford F150 — Its a truck! the only bad thing is the Brakes suck! I get great gas mileage it is around 15 MPG around the city and about 17 when I go on long trips!

Pros: Its a 4x4! It looks dang good! Its a sexy mans truck

Cons: The brakes have been replaced more than three times

Sturdy, Homey, And Lovable. — I've had my F-150 for a long time now and I have really enjoyed it. No, it doesn't stop on a dime and no it doesn't go zero to sixty in four seconds but it's still a really reliable car. I personally can't handle a car that twitches when you touch the steering wheel, comes to a screeching halt when you tap the brakes, and goes zero to a hundred in two seconds when you press the gas. For people who are used to cars like that, I do not recommend the 1997 Ford F-150.

Pros: Sturdy, takes a licking and keeps on ticking, comfortable interior, not
too long for maneuvering through parking lots and narrow places,
    handling is good.

Cons: Front heavy, skids easily, no 4-wheel Drive, braking faulty because of
    front heaviness, acceleration nonexistent.

Redneck Truck — It is all stock. Has cut off exhaust louder than stock but not to loud. Has mud tires and usually has mud on it.

Pros: still running with almost 200000 miles

Cons: has some engine problems that cause for not so good gas milage

    Pros: Good looking truck

Cons: had to replace many things that i shouldnt of had to

Good Basic Truck — first year of the new body introduction, the one i refer to is my fathers, decent truck, extremly basic. he did not maintain it well and had to replace the motor, but still runs decently, v6 4 spd rwd, basic! but i recently drove it to a dj gig with a friend an hour each way loaded with equipment, not a single problem

    Pros: good truck

    Cons: gas tank

312,000 Miles And Still Running — This is the lariat model and the leather and cd player are nice. Stock radio and speakers sound great but placement of the cd changer is inconvienent. The exterior seems to hold up very well and this is a powerful truck. Over 300,000 miles on the truck. It has original engine and tranny with no major repairs to the engine. Great truck!!!

    Pros: long lasting
    interior is very classy
    great ride
4 wheel drive makes it impossible to get stuck

Cons: needs the 5.4L V8 instead of the 4.6
6 disk changer is in a bad spot
