It Is Pricey Too Repair And Too Many Things Go Wrong. Timing Belts, Oil Leaks Transmission Leaks Etc. — I would never buy another one. Too expensive to operate.due to the cost of repairs but great gas mileage.

Owner for 3 years, 0 months

Miles Driven per Year:20,000

1996 Plymouth Neon 2 Dr STD Coupe Review
Oyobass says:
A classic from a bygone era. Before it was stolen, I think I must have had one of the last few still on the road. Good basic transportation, decent gas mileage. Comfortable, fun to drive car if all you need are the basics.

1996 Plymouth Neon 2 Dr STD Coupe winning categories:
  • Power
  • Handling
  • Looks/Style
  • Front Seats
  • Back Seats
  • Cargo Capacity
  • Family Car
  • Value
  • Would Buy
Power Ranked 2011 Kia Optima Hybrid EX better.
"It is hard to beat a hybrid for torque off the line. The 6 speed automatic in the Kia vs. the 3 speed auto in the Plymouth delivers that power more smoothly to the wheels."
Handling Ranked 2011 Kia Optima Hybrid EX worse.
"I like sportier handling. Plymouth wins, although the Kia has smooth and predictable handling and nearly as tight a turning ratio."
Looks/Style Ranked 2011 Kia Optima Hybrid EX better.
"A car designed by a former Audi engineer vs an econobox designed in Detroit. Hmm, I wonder who will win that one?"
Front Seats Ranked 2011 Kia Optima Hybrid EX better.
"Power heated and air conditioned seating vs power nothing."
Back Seats Ranked 2011 Kia Optima Hybrid EX better.
"Luxury 4 door seating with lots of room vs. small cramped 2 door econobox? Guess who wins and why!"
Cargo Capacity Ranked 2011 Kia Optima Hybrid EX worse.
"Due to the hybrid battery and 12 volt battery being in the trunk of the Kia, the tiny Plymouth Neon blows it away for trunk space."
Family Car Ranked 2011 Kia Optima Hybrid EX better.
"So much more room in the Kia!"
Value Ranked 2011 Kia Optima Hybrid EX better.
"Both offer exceptional value for what I paid, but the Kia wins in comfort for the money. Having a midsize car that blows away a subcompact econobox for gas mileage by a very substantial margin is fun too!"
Would Buy Ranked 2011 Kia Optima Hybrid EX better.
"15 years difference in age and technology gives the 2011 Kia the edge over the 1996 Plymouth, although the Plymouth actually has fewer miles on the odometer."
