Ford Ranger — like that its a stick. 5 speed. but i def want something with a much larger motor than a 4 banger. and i want a larger cab and truck. so if we could just take the "bean" and enlarge it greatly i would be satisfied.. although i do think that when i do get a new truck i will make the ranger my new project and probably raise it up a bit, ill have to cut the wells a bit so i can throw on bigger tires and make it look beastly, but for a vehicle for a college student i can not complain. gas mileage is great for being a truck. but winter driving can be a pain. it doesnt handle the greatest on even the slightest slippary roads.. so a cautious driver is needed.. but as for repairs and such, i have never had a serious problem

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: the fact its pretty cheap. and sturdy

Cons: the size, the poor handling, and the fact its so standard

Reliable And Powerful — Performance - acceleration=8, braking=8, handling=7 Build Quality - has it needed repairs? ive got 135,000 no problems beside average oil and brake jobs Appearance - look alright it a 1996 though Cost of Ownership - gas mileage sucks in the city but get good if on interstate. Fun Factor - great for work truck

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: can tow pretty much anything

Cons: bad MPGs

Good For A High School Car — Its a quality vehicle, it hasn't needed much work done. Dependable, not exactly what I want to be driving. 4 cylinder engine makes for pretty poor performance. Good gas mileage, not much fun to drive, except in the snow, rear wheel drive and no weight in the back can be a good time

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Cheap and reliable

Cons: low performance and style

Fine For What I Need It For — Its just a junker... sporting some minnesota rust, and nice dents. Just a little in-line 4 but she does prettty good:]great on gas, and hasn't needed any large repairs. Just routine maitnence. Its the most basic of the basic.

Pros: still a truck but good on gas

Cons: ....

V8 Ranger — I like the fat that the stock driveline was scrapped and I droped in a 302 v8 and a c6 transmission. the stock 2.3L I4 was great on gas with a 5 speed manual begind it but was lacking in the preformance end alot.

Cons: cab is cramped for a tall guy

Not The Best, But It's Mine — It's not the best truck in the world, it's slow, gas mileage isn't the best...but ya know it's mine. And when you pay off a vehicle for the first time, it just makes you like it that much more.

Pros: reliable, decent mileage for a truck

Cons: slow

Boring — Truck for commuting to school. The truck is ok but alot of mechanical problems ranging from wiper motors, to an undiagnosed constant smell of antifreeze. The performance of the 4 cyl leaves a lot to be desired even with the manual transmission. I'll be selling this truck as soon as I am out of school.

Pros: Gas mileage ok

Cons: Lots of mechanical troubles
