'96 Forn F-150 — For truck that weighs over 4,000 pounds, the acceleration is phenomenal. I have clocked myself at about 7.0 seconds from 0- 60. The other surprising thing considering its weight is how well it brakes. It has saved me from a handful of accidents because of its stopping power. Towing and load carrying abilities are excellent for its class. I have loaded that thing up, plus towed a trailer and it still accelerates on climbs. The biggest downside to this vehicle is the gas mileage with a max of 14 stock. With a new muffler to replace the old one, I have seen mileage increase a mile and a half to 2 miles per gallon. With my odometer reading at under 60,000, I'm convinced that I will be able to keep the truck that I got from my Granddad for a long time.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Power and Security on the Road

Cons: Gas Mileage

Buy It. Take Care Of It. Or Not. It'll Still Run And Do What You Need A Truck For. — great truck. its been around for a while. its taken everything that i have thrown at it and more. the engine is a hoss. transmission is as well. she's not the prettiest girl at the dance, but she'll take you home and make you scream her name. then when you wake up, she'll have breakfast made, and your oil changed.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: its a truck, and every sense of the word.

Cons: if you like pretty things that you cant haul stuff with.

Great Truck — The steering has a considerable amount of play (probably need new gearbox) I put new balljoints in and tie rods. Could excellerate a bit faster, but its a truck so its not like it needs to. Tows more weight than expected about 2-3 thousand pounds over the sticker. It tows good with a nice amount of torque, but, as I said earlier, it takes a long time to get up to speed with a load. I LOVE THIS TRUCK!!!

Pros: The seats are really comfortable.

Cons: the small amounts of rust are going to get bigger.

Mean Green Machine — Overall this truck has been good for the past 5 1/2 yrs of owning it. Recently the transmission went out but it has 146,000 miles on it and still runs strong. Currently the stock 5.0L 302 is still under the hood but I plan on rebuilding or getting either a 351 or a 347 stroker. Right now exterior is pacific green metallic and the bed has moderate damage. Soon I will be replacing the bed and going with either a dark blue or black with as much chrome accessories as I can get. Interior is a light gray and of course XL having no power anything kinda sucks but the A/C is VERY COLD!! Big pus for central Louisiana!! Oh yeah, anyone that may have tips for the best performance upgrades without sacrificing too much gas mileage let me know. Right now I'm hangin around 17 mpg and I don't to get below 10-12 mpg. Thanks for any suggestions!

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Still runs and drives good with cold a/c

Cons: Gotta rebuild original transmission

The Truck And I Have Been Through A Lot Together. I'll Never Get Rid Of It. — Built Ford tough and is the classic box body style. It has great acceleration because I added a hypertech power programmer to the V8. Also just tinted the windows, and added a billet grill. The truck gets looks and props all the time. Plus it's paid for!

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Perfect for the Drive-ins on the weekend.

Cons: poor gas mileage.

Beauty Is In The Eye Of The Beer Holder — I love my fords, wouldnt be half the mechanic I am without em. this truck has the 300 straight sick, in my view the best engine ever made by fomoco. I need to write ten more words so here they are.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: it runs

Cons: needs a clutch

Ford F-150 — I love this truck, very very reliable, parts are inexpensive, lots of low end torque. It has an 4.9L I-6 engine, which is basically unstoppable. Great fun to go mudding in also. I purchased it stock and put on the lift and tires, roll bar, grill guard, basically everything in the pic. Hopefully it gets a fresh coat of black paint soon to finish it off. Mpg is a def negative though....

Pros: Reliable! Fun!

Cons: GAS MILEAGE, FENDER RUST

I Definitely Recommend Getting One! — Awesome truck! Has never needed any repairs, body looks great, has been wrecked several times and everything still works perfect. Gas mileage is horrible but hell, its a truck. I wish I would have gotten a four wheel drive though.

Pros: Cant find a more solid vehicle

Cons: Gas mileage sucks.
