Yellow, High Performance, And Rare — This car was serious fun. 240hp limited edition yellow 850 T5-R that I bought in college, sitting on factory magnesium lopro 17's. Tons of torque steer b/c of the FWD. Wish I had never sold it, ever.

    Pros: Fun, rare, yellow, fast

    Cons: Automatic trans, boo

Basic Transportation — I have driven this car for 8 years, and you can tell. Outside of the mechanical workings of the car, it has not held up at all against the heat of Texas summers. The paint has oxidized and cracked, interior trim pieces are literally rotting off, and several small features (keyless entry, various switches on the inside, etc) do not work very well if at all. Also, the leather seats have worn down quite a bit and the headliner is coming off, both of which are extremely unsightly. This was a good looking car when I bought it, but it has really gone downhill. The good part about it is that it has been very reliable. Outside of regularly scheduled maintenance, I have had no problems at all (except the time I drove it though 3 ft of water and burned out the alternator). Now that the car has passed 150k on the odometer, I can see some mechanical parts showing their age. The power steering uses a lot of fluid now, and the AC system is leaking. The shifting performance of the automatic transmission has also decreased from being flawless to having slight jumps when shifting under acceleration. For now though, nothing major has broken. The performance is mediocre, but enough to get around town. The top end acceleration is just not there, so it is hard to merge onto freeways sometimes. The handling is generally squishy and there is a lot of body roll if you drive it aggressively. Braking is good. Since this car is FWD and heavy, it handles great on the ice. The best part about this car is that you have no risk of it being stolen. I used to leave it unlocked in Houston when cars all around were getting broken into and stolen on a regular basis. The O.G.s do not want anything to do with this car.

Pros: Good gas mileage, low maintenance needs, safe, undesirable by theifs

Cons: Poor build quality, lots of body roll, under powered, squishy suspension

Great Family Beater. — Myself and my husband definitely prefer cars on a stick, and for a family wagon this thing is surprisingly fun to drive. It will keep up with the pack pretty well and still feels solid and nimble. Everything still works but the cup holder cracked and won't go back in the armrest, the passenger side view is held on with JD weld (still adjusts with the power toggles, and it's not going anywhere), the starter wire pops off every now and then, and we will never have air conditioning but it does great in the snow, handles all of us and all our gear no matter the adventure, and doesn't complain much. We had to replace tie rods and a sensor when we got it but can't gripe about that for a $2,000 car.

    Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Great value, comfortable ride, runs great, cheap to repair and excellent utility with that built-in booster seat and cargo capacity.

Cons: It's old - no A/C conversion, and it's a bit rough around the edges.
