Too Costly To Maintain —

Good performing car when it is working; but this car has been a nightmare since 5/08-Over $18,000 in repairs spent as of 12/10, yes I am not kidding; I must have had a louse screw to complete the repairs; for example; in 6/08-r/r-antenna mast, emission parts, brakes, lub and oil at a cost of $2,661.25 (I think I got ripped off a little bit); 8/08-Throttle Actuator, PCV Hose, Shift Linkage Bushing, Distributor Caps @ $1,629.74; 9/08-Engine Mounts @ $660.67; 10/08-r/r Radiator, fan blade, used fan clutch (never buy a used part) $1,423.72; 6/09-Oil Pan Gasket, Valve Cover Gasket, Bosch Plug wire/Set, Power Steering Pump rebuilt @ $2,046.34; 9/09-r/r-Control Arm, Shock Absorbers, OEM-Link Arm, Suspension-Rear Left @ $911; 9/09-Repair Radio Volume Knob (yes they all go out in the orginal radio and I actually found someone to fix it) @ $60; 2/10-r/r camshaft position sensor, r/r-crankshaft position sensor; r/r distributor cap; r/r ignition coil, fuel injector; r/r-vacuum hoses valve cover to intake manifold for parts and labor @ $2,245.08, milage at this time was only 96,879.; 3/10-r/r antenna assembly motor @ $509.98; 5/10-replaced vaccum hose on transmission including trans service @ $155.48; 7/10-replace oil pan and oil sender unit plus lube and oil @ $553.36; 8/10-Replace Wiring Harness (all of the Mercedes need this one to be replace for this year and a few other years) @ $437.55; 11/10-Drive Belt Replaced, Front Pads Replaced, again power steering pump needed repair (should have bought a new one, but under warranty) @ $762.36; 12/10-Transmission currently being rebuilt approx. $1,400 to $1,600; Do not buy a used E420; this car has always been taken care of.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Drives Well When Repaired

Cons: Just breaks down to much

Still One Of My Favorite Cars Ever Made — I had 250K miles on her before she got totaled, other than the reverse gear starting to slip she was virtually problem free I had planned to keep her and get her restored , maybe throw in a C36 engine and upgraded exhaust I am going to buy another one of these eventually, if i can find one

Pros: Well Built, True Benz, Very Rare

Cons: If you have bad taste

If Your Fortunate Enough To Find An E320 Convertible For Sale, Buy It! — Still one of the gratest looking automobiles on the road. Built to last with minimal problems. A comfortable, solid, gem of a ride. Only 3 years in production makes the last 1995, E320 a modern classic & a joy to own.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Comfortable. Classy. Not dated looking. Easy operation.

Cons: No glove compartment. No auto dooor locks.

The Best Car Ever Built. Our Family Will Continue To Use These Cars For Years To Come. — My family has owned 1992, 1994, and 1995 400E and E420s. The new E-Klasse's do not compare to the W123/W124 platform. Great ride, great handling, incredible build quality, each car managed over 300 000kms with ease, only replaced by a newer version of the car.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Ride, handling, build quality, performance, economy

Cons: repair costs, niggling problems in the air con unit because of age, problems with tape player in the '92.

E300 Diesel — the OM606 in the E300 N/A is a very solid motor, a little on the loud side compared to some other diesel Mercedes we have in the garage, but over all a 9/10 with performance being its only downside. I see 35+mpg hwy on a regular basis... much better than I had expected, even for a diesel

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Fuel Econ

Cons: Lack of power, wiring harness

It Is A Great Beginner Car For Those Thrill Seeking Teenage Boys — acceleration is excellent, braking falls into this area too. handling is good when the roads are dry. build quality is unbelievable. appearance will blow you away when you take care of the car. expensive to maintain.. fun to drive when the suns out and on a hot day.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: it is easy to park.

Cons: bad traction when road is wet

Get Another Car Which Is More Fun To Drive — The build quality sucks.... not like any other mercedes. The features of the car suck too because it was the locally assembled (in Malaysia) CKD version. This car is not much fun to drive the engine is a lethargic 4 cylinder. Next time it'll be a V8 baby.....

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Branding only

Cons: Build Quality
