Cheap, Slow, But Fun-to-throw-around-in-turns Bmw. — I've had my car for a year and a half and its been good. No trouble with the engine except two crankcase seals. I've had the clutch and slave cylinder replaced though, mainly because of a lot of burn outs after I learned how to drive stick. Haha. It gets good mileage and is a smooth and stable drive, although body roll is quite evident at off- ramp speeds of 50+, also at over 100 i can feel the up-force from the relatively high ground clearance of the front end. Lowering springs and front bumper lip recommended.

Pros: Slight understeer when pushed to its limit, but with the possibility to get the back end out.

Cons: Underpowered, and no significant gains can be had cheaply and easily.

Bmw 328i 193hp 285nm — Its a BMW whats not too like. I installed the M52 2.8i engine insted of the M50 2.5i very nice upgrade and as a bonus the M50 is just the perfect engine for turbo/supercharger so that's the next step. But the 2.8i is alot more smooth and alot quicker so it will do for now :-)

Pros: everything

Cons: well i guess a little bit of rust, but its a car i can fix it

Bargain Buy! — Got it for £890, absolute bargain! Body work good for age and bullet proof engine. Only 1.6 so smallest engine in its class but with todays petrol prices who wants a V8? Brother is a BMW technician so it makes sense to have one. Overall, very happy with the motor.

Pros: Cheap to insure, run and tax for a BMW

Cons: Not very quick without modification

You Don't Always Need An M — I have been extremely pleased with this car ever since i bought it. this car has never failed to impress me. The cost of ownership is not nearly as the myths say. nothing is as expensive as you might hear This car is amazing to drive it shifts through every gear like a breaze. acceleration is incredible but of course can be improved. cornering is a little on the sloppy side but with a few modifications can be greatly improved. overall this vehicle lives up to its heritage and is a well built machine worthy of the BMW name.

Pros: Good acceleration, Smooth shifts, Incredibly quiet, Decent on gas

Cons: Sound system is lacking, Cup holders only fit energy drinks

Fantastic All Round Car, Best In Its Class — ive had this car now for 2 years and driven 30000 miles, all hassle free,it never misses a beat. looks good turns heads , the best car i have driven. i cant understand why anybody would want anything else. im staying loyal to bmw now for the rest of my life. and trust me ive had alot of cars.

Pros: good looks, great performance in all respects. you just want to drive it. the best car in the class. very relaible.

Cons: expensive parts wen things do go rong, not much space if you have a family. quite thirsty, but better than its rivals on fuel. all cons are petty really. to be honest there aint many.

Good Compromise: Performance Without Big Expense — After having a 1988 325i for a few years I got a 1996 323Ci which was only 5 years old when I got it , I've had no serious problems with this car since. I noticed how much better the handling was than the old 325, the brakes were sharper too. However the acceleration did not match that of the 325, AFAIK the 323i has a smaller engine block despite having same cc (2498) as the 325

Pros: Great Handling , comfortable, reliable

Cons: Not as fast as 325i despite having the same size engine(cc)
