Woes & Joys Of Little Miss Unlucky (my Audi 80 1.9tdi Avant) — love the way it looks... hate its unreliabilty, going to remove race injectors and return boost back to standard.. nice and simple to repair tho.. always get good comments on the way i looks, surprise's a few people on the way it handles and how quick it is! for a TDI that is

Pros: looks stunning, makes me feel good

Cons: takes constant work to keepit running

Audi 80 2.0l 16v Sport Avant — Audi 80 2.0l 16v Sport Avant Probably got too much of a soft spot for thsi car as i was in the family got 10 years before I got it. Borrowed it some time before it finally came to me and loved it. A good jump from my Golf. From 213,000 - 240,000 miles in my hands, and a trip to the Nurburgring a few months before the end. Performance - When it was new, even new to the family, it was fast. Given some 10 years and 150,000 miles it was starting to drop off. Still fast and handled really well for an estate. Build Quality - 2 spot of rust bubbles no bigger than 2p piece in 15 years. Generally well build and solid car. Eventually Heater matrix was its downfall, engine still in a garage after it was scrapped. Apperance - Never dated in my opinion, always looked good on the road and still makes me smile to see a 2l 16v on the road. Cost of Ownership - Not cheap, but far from expensive. Probably expensive for my means at the time, Heater Matrix fitting cost too much hence it was scrapped for parts, consumables (discs/pads/tyree) were quite cheap, major parts a bit more expensive. 30-35 mpg on average. Fun Factor - Great fun, on track it handled better than msot estate cars and at the Nurburgring survived a spin in the wet although it lacked power up hill. 'Ring notes - fastest lap 11:13.6, spin at Kallenhard with poor rear tyres on 1st lap. Pointed out that "if it'll survive this, it'll survive forever" while on track. Reccomended as a cheap, well built load carrier. If it hadnt been the 3x the cost of the part to fix the heat matrix (£300 labour) i'd still be driving it.

Pros: Excelent car all round, shame it broke how it did

Cons: Some larger parts not so chaep...

The Second Best Car Ive Ever Owned — performance is what you would expect from a 2.8 Litre engine awsome Build is great full galvanized streel body so no rust at all after 15 years you might expect a few dents and rips but no immaculate inside and out £500 but worth £1500 Petrol though ouch grips the road like its life depends on it so at high speeds you can take a corner without the worry of you hitting the ditch

Pros: Build & Performance

Cons: Fuel consumption

Bargain, Reliable Motor — I loved this car, quality of build and engineering was superb and did not cost me a penny in any repairs as it was soo reliable! Petrol consumption was good and comfort was great for long drives. Car is fun to drive when needed! Pity someone crashed in to us and wrote the car off! So a very safe car as well!

Pros: everything worked!

"if Looked After And Serviced Regularly These Cars Would Take You To The Moon... And Back. Superb!" — 1992 Audi 80 2.0 E review "If looked after and serviced regularly these cars would take you to the moon... and back. Superb!" What things have gone wrong with the car? The catalytic converter had to be replaced along with the lambda sensor (140,000 miles) at a cost of £800. The front wishbone bushes and front subframe bushes had to be replaced at 160,000 miles. The valve stem oil seals had to be replaced at 135,000 miles. The distributer and hall effect sensor packed up at 208,000 miles. General comments? This was an extremely well built and reliable car which never broke down in the four years that I owned it. It always started first time, apart from when the distributer packed up, and ran smoothly. For a car of it's size the 2.0 8v (117 b.h.p) engine seemed a bit small and lacked urgency in it's acceleration (11.5 seconds 0-60m.p.h). However, it was a fine motorway cruiser where it was refined, quiet and fairly economical and capable of reaching its top speed of 120 m.p.h even after 200,000 miles. On the down side the car did guzzle fuel a bit when driving around town. The engine was absolutely bombproof and you could rev it up to the red line all day and the bodywork was equally as good. Well equipped with height adjustment and heating on both front seats, air conditioning, ABS, electric everything, even heated windscreen washers and door locks. The power steering was a peach!!
