1991 Nissan 300ZX 2 Dr Turbo HatchbackReview
The Perfect Built Up Inexpensive Sports Car — this car is in absolutely perfect condition. its fast as hell with 400 rwhp. there's a reason my slogan is try and catch me now. if i could i would have a second one so i could build it up to 1000+ rwhp and just track it out and keep this one as a daily driver.
Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)
Pros: the whole thing

Expensive to fix and maintain. I like that it has double-wishbone suspension all around and a factory LSD. I havent driven a Z32 very hard, but Im sure the advantages of the suspension design and differential would definitely be more noticeable to me if I did. Driven normally on the street, it feels more like a muscle car with its deeper exhaust note (Sebring catback), heavier weight, and less harsh ride quality. This is a car I would drive across the country, given that I take some tools and spare parts and have some past experience in working on the engine.
vs1991 Toyota MR2 2 Dr STD Coupe
1991 Nissan 300ZX 2 Dr STD Hatchback winning categories:
Power Ranked 1991 Toyota MR2 2 Dr STD Coupe worse.
"The 3VZFE is rated at about 185hp and 198lbft vs the VG30DE 222hp and 198lbft. But the MR2 is a little over 300lbs lighter so, comparing their power-to-weight ratios, they are pretty evenly matched"
Handling Ranked 1991 Toyota MR2 2 Dr STD Coupe better.
"The MR2 weighs much less and has a shorter wheelbase which is great for tight turns and agility."
Looks/Style Ranked 1991 Toyota MR2 2 Dr STD Coupe better.
"Honestly, these are probably my two favorite 90s japanese cars when it comes to aesthetics. The MR2 is small, has flying buttresses, a uniquely curved rear window... The Z32 has the iconic sports-car-esque long hood and short rear look with a very menacing front end that I really popped out to me when one was driving behind me the other day. But the MR2 has pop-ups! Nothing beats pop ups, even if they seriously hinder aerodynamic drag when up."
Front Seats Ranked 1991 Toyota MR2 2 Dr STD Coupe better.
"I like that the Z32 driver seat has more adjustability, but I dont like that its all done via knobs.... even the angle of the back rest. I get that it allows for a more precise adjustment but I think thats a little unnecessary."
Back Seats Ranked 1991 Toyota MR2 2 Dr STD Coupe better.
"Neither of them have back seats, but the MR2 has nifty storage compartments behind seats as well as room for backpacks or groceries."
Cargo Capacity Ranked 1991 Toyota MR2 2 Dr STD Coupe better.
"I like the large singular trunk space the Z32 has, but the MR2 seems to have more cubic footage and more places to store things. In addition to being a mid-engine car with a decently sized trunk, there are small compartments behind the seats, a large center console against the rear firewall between the seats, room above the storage consoles behind the seats, and given you remove the plastic surrounding the spare wheel, there is room in the frunk (front trunk) for some tools."
Family Car Ranked 1991 Toyota MR2 2 Dr STD Coupe worse.
"It isnt. Neither of them are good family cars. Theyre both old 2-seater japanese sports cars. Nothing about that says family. But the 300zx seems to have less road noise in the cabin so I guess thats good?"
Value Ranked 1991 Toyota MR2 2 Dr STD Coupe better.
"Easy to work on, cheap parts readily available, starting to appreciate in value. Z32s are getting harder to find in good condition at a decent price."
Would Buy Ranked 1991 Toyota MR2 2 Dr STD Coupe better.
"Because mid-engine. I wanted the challenge of learning how to handle a mid-engine car without having to buy a Ferrari (the Pontiac Fiero doesnt count because its junk). I wanted Toyota Camry reliability with Lotus Elise handling; the MR2 was the clear answer."

Still one of the best sports cars I have owned! Plenty of options for power enhancement, handling and more. Becoming a rare find... definitely rare to find one that hasnt been completely molested by youngsters that think putting a wing the size of a 737 on it, and adding a mosquito sounding exhaust is cool. UGH!
vs1991 Toyota Supra 2 Dr Turbo Hatchback
1991 Nissan 300ZX 2 Dr Turbo Hatchback winning categories:
Power Ranked 1991 Toyota Supra 2 Dr Turbo Hatchback worse.
"Overall 3.0 v6 and cam design with decent Turbos. More torque on the Supra though, with the straight motor."
Back Seats Ranked 1991 Toyota Supra 2 Dr Turbo Hatchback better.
"The fact that the supra has back seats. The 2dr 300zx does not."
