If You Need A Truck, Buy A Chevy — One of Chevy's best truck designs (I thought) were the models they had during the 90s. This was my first car, and in some ways my first love. She had 74,000 miles on her when I got her... and 273,000 miles on her when I traded her in. I have never loved owning a car more than this one. This truck was as reliable as the day is long. The only things ever replaced were wear items (and the transmission once, but that's because my step-father used it to pull a trailer that was far too heavy) and the rear end (once). 3 batteries, 2 alternators, one water pump, one rear end, a LOT of oil changes and a few tune-ups and this truck never ever let me down. The only time I was ever stranded was when the aftermarket alarm went on the fritz. If you need a truck, buy a Chevy. You'll thank me later.

Pros: Reliability, performance, utility

Cons: none

The Beast — The 350cid small-block V8 has plenty of torque and power. The transmission is a 4-speed (w/overdrive) and is very responsive and kicks down fairly quick when you punch it. The beauty of the drive-train is the rear-end, a limited-slip posi. The interior is simple, yet effective and the gauges are easy to read. It handles like you would expect a truck to handle and the ride is actually better than what I expected. The truck is very easy to work on and is quite reliable. The gas mileage sucks, but that is expected in an older truck. The styling is simple but not too simple, everything flows together smoothly. Overall this is a very good vehicle and can be purchased for quite cheap. However, you get a whole lot of truck for a little money. The gas mileage is one of the few downsides.

Pros: Loads of power, reliable, cheap, easy to work on

Cons: Low gas mileage

She's A Truck ! What Else Can I Say . :0) — Performance is quick when it needs to be and the fuel consumption isn't bad , the body is to rusted to restore so it's kinda sad but the truck is great .I just got the wheels on it last year and love the way they look on it .I origanly wanted to repaint it black with purple ghost flames but t's no longer cost effective so I just have to keep the rust from taking over more than it has so far .the interior is typacle old chevy truck , grey and falling appart , I had to remove the headliner a few months ago but I actualy like the way it looks better without it .Anyway , thats part of the story of the silver eagle .

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: It's a truck

Cons: Stay away from it if your driving a Mercedes , You don't want rust bits hitting THAT paint !

Get You One, If You Need A Good Work Truck — Hell of work truck and that was good because that is exactly what i used it for. It was only a half ton truck but I loaded it double than that at least once a week the whole time I owned it, I had the smallest motor they put in them, the 4.3l v6 but it pulled everything I needed it to, I never once replaced a single part on the motor, but because of the extensive stress I was putting on the transmission hauling the loads that I knew I shouldn't have been hauling, I had blown out the transmission and thats when the truck and I parted ways, overall GREAT truck

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: Motors are top of the line quality, at least mine was, I was the same design as the 350 so I know the bigger motors they put in them are just as good

Cons: I've heard of my friends have transmission troubles too, not too big on the 700R4.

Love It. — Its a 305 automatic. 700 r trans i think. Its a stout motor, not too fast, but holds its own. I just bought it last week, but so far i love it. Its roomy for me. And extremely comfortable. I plan some mild engine mods like headers, and k&n filter. I also plan to paint it and put some new lights/bumpers etc. on it. I bought it with new(radiator, hoses, exhaust, etc) I've put on a new (starter, inner door handle, mirror, brake pedal pad, belt, etc) Also pulled a non working alarm, and some other odds and ends. Its a perfect running truck, i love it.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Very roomy

Cons: None

It's Marvelously Wonderful. — It's better made than any of today's trucks, and it uses its power more efficiently as well. Acceleration: if you tromp it, you will leave two really good black marks, and you will reach 60 mph at the high end of second gear. It handles well... for a truck. No squeaks, no rattles, all I need is a new air conditioner, but this one lasted 15 years, so bravo. The appearance would be better if my friggin cats would just stay off of it! Needs a buffing... Eats the miles, gets 21 mpg at 70 mph. Not so good in town, though. I will never sell it.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: It's great

Cons: If someone is selling it, it has something bad wrong with it.

Most Reliable Truck On The Road — chevy broke the mold with this truck granted my truck has a few aftermarket mods on it like; a k&n filter, no cat, flowmaster super 40 truck exhaust, poweraid throttle body spacer, a built 700r4 tranny with a shift kit and cooler, and a posiand im also pushing 32/11.50 tires. my truck beats any gas rig from the era and runs great everyday i haul firewood and cattle with no problems this truck was bought in 93 by my parents and now i have it and it still runs amazing. the po

Still Running At 280,000 Miles — The 6.2L chevy diesel is one of the worst motors chevy has made... The nickname WHITE GOST comes from my father inlaw cuz he says the truck likes me. It has no power, braking sucks, handling??? Its a 1991 so the build quality is very good along with the appearance. All and all it is a very fun truck to have. I smile every time I hop in it and fire it up with that nice black cloud. The one thing is that everyyone knows its me when I'm in the gost.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Loud and Proud

Cons: Its a 6.2L

Work Truck — Back home, I drive my dad's old 91 Chevy Silverado. Its dependable, we have put about 350K miles with the stock drivetrain. I love the steel body work and the engine is great. However, it drinks gasoline like its going out of fashion! The 5.7l V8 has a ton of aftermarket parts for it. This truck can be completely redone to fit you needs. A rebuilt truck would offer the great low end torque that this bad boy had new.

Pros: Low end torque and dependablity.  Cheap safe vehicle thats easy on insurance.

Cons: Poor steering, poor MPG, and poor brakes. The ride quality isnt the best either.
