Bmw 318is — This little beast is turning into my track car. Its engine is pretty solid for a non-turbo 16v 1.8L. It's got to be revved though. It likes life above 4000rpm, which makes it less fun driving to work than my GTI, but is perfectly good for track events. This car has BMW M-tech suspension, including front and rear sway bars from the factory and an LSD. BMW even moved the battery to the boot for better weight distribution. It is 18yrs old though so the old struts and springs are a bit tired. Bilstein Sports Struts/H&R Springs combo is being installed after the new year :-)

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: LSD, Handling wise it was built as a well balanced car, it's a rare version of the e30 BMW shape.

Cons: The front valance is missing....I really need to track one down...

I'm A Passionate Bmw Owner, Its All I Expected And More! — I bought the car second hand from a friend that was immigrating, it needed some attention and now that I have looked after it, it is nothing but pleasure everytime I get behind the wheel, even though the car is 21 years old, I still feel very proud to be driving it around, she is a beauty.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: cruises like a dream on the open road

Cons: a few minor mechanical faults needed replacement

Bar None, The Best Car I Have Ever Driven. — Car is amazing to drive. There's really no comparison to driving an E30, there are no blindspots, the car is compact and nimble and has exceptionally responsive steering. Dubbed the baby M3, the 318is was the somewhat affordable alternative to the M-series car. The M42 engine has a strong pick-up and a powerband between ~3800-->4500 RPM. The car turns on a dime too, amazing turning radius.

    Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Can't beat E30 styling, Handling is light and responsive, and acceleration is strong

Cons: Parts are fairly expensive, and somewhat harder to find than say a Civic.

"they" Are Right. The E30 Was The Pinnacle. — A practical 4-door with a tuneful straight-six, plenty of power and entertaining rear-drive handling. Boxy looks still the best, and still considered to be one of the most engaging driver's cars ever made by BMW. At the time, a real-deal performance saloon too thanks to that silken 141-kW 2.5-litre straight-six.

    Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Fun RWD handling in relative safety. Easily pipped 200km/h, sideways fun just a prod of the accelerator away.

Cons: Continues to be a prime target for robbery and highjacking in SA

Idk, Best Early 90's Bmw — awesome car for a 1.8 litre, you can't compare it to anything else until you drive it, really gets up and goes, has 120hp or less, depedning on how it was taken care of, but even with the bad transmission that I had, I had a lot of fun in it, moves very well

Pros: m42, the only engine made for that year

    Cons: 4 cylinder

Great Car For People Who Enjoy Driving — Performance - braking, handling all very good, acceleration good but not great. Build Quality - Some parts needed replaced, but it is a 1991 Appearance - BMW e30's look great Cost of Ownership - gas mileage- 24-35 (93), maintenance- got the car for ~ 1700 spent 1500 on tires brakes and bushings to make it drive like new. Fun Factor - this is a very fun car to drive on curvy roads, but not in a drag race

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

    Pros: Blast to drive

Cons: if you need to carry stuff

Bmw E30 Convertible. — Its a 1990 but that option wasn't available, this thing sounds awesome, especially with the roof down. Kick down isnt that bad for a 20 year old car and once u get past 5000 rpm, its like an extra surge of power is released and u can feel the kick as it pulls you back into your seat and you leave most modern cars in the rear view mirror. The build quality is perfect after all it is a BMW, the interior feels solid. I have upgraded the wheels to 17 inch alpinas from the 15 inch BBS alloys, personaly i thnk it looks much better now. Suprisingly fuel economy is good, averaging around 30 mpg in town. I have been quoted £500 for a service (from BMW), the one let down with owning BMWs, they are expensive to service. Finally it is a great car to drive, especially with the roof down cruising in 5th with the smooth straight six rasping behind you. Wouldn't have it any other way.

    Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Ths sound, the fact its a BMW.

    Cons: Service costs.
