Kind of a mafia's car.

The Model Most People Visualize When They Think Mercedes S-class. — The 560sel was the top of the line w126 through 1991 and the classic design has become iconic. The quality of build and craftsmanship of materials is exceptional. The weight and solidity of the car is immediately apparent to the driver. Gas mileage is terrible at 12 mpg average. Extremely comfortable for highway driving. The prices for these w126 s- Class sedan is rising, with collectors valuing condition first, then mileage. Low mileage examples (2013) under 90k have sold for $15k+; Nice cars with mileage around 125k bring $10k, while normal-wear unrestored cars with mechanical and cosmetic issues can be had under $4k. For those interested in acquiring one: Pay Up at acquisition because nothing is more expensive than a cheap Mercedes. Things to look for: Idiot Lights, Upholstery wear at the B-Pillar sealbelt hinge, and check the climate control for A/C and Heat - if the heat is not constant, you'll need a new monovalve ( which they ALL seem to need). Expect the drivers bolster closest to the door to show some wear.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Iconic Flagship and most successful of the W126 S-Class Hand Built Mercedes ending in 1991. Enormous rear passenger space with reclining and heated rear seats; Exceptional build quality still apparent 20+ years on.

Cons: Rear suspension is hydraulic and only Mercedes will work on it. Can not be modified to shocks.
