Best Car Ever! — The title sums it up. Affordable sports car, insurance doesn't break the bank, soft top, pokey engine, good looks, smart handling, reliable and fun. Who needs a Lambourghini??? Pros: All of it! Cons: Needs new springs and suspension struts as they are corroded with age... this will cost me... |

Fairly Decent Car, Nice To Drive Overall. — Handling was by far the best aspect of the car, save the fact its a convertible. Good engine with high revs and quick off the line. Decent stock sound system, I really enjoyed the seat intergrated speaker, especially with the top down. The only part of the body styling I didnt like was the nose. Far too 'cute' for my taste, I had plans to change the front end until I ended up selling the car. Pros: Handling, Seat-integrated Speakers, Convertible Cons: Top started detiorating (an expensive repair), Too 'Cute' |

Fabulous Fun Canyon Car.great Fun With The Top Down.dependability Is Great — While 116 hp isn't alot, driver participation overcomes the lack of raw power...(you have to SHIFT it!) This is a driver's car so you have to play your part. This little thing corners as if it is on rails. Mine gets right at 33 mpg while going 80 mph on the freeway. But living in Sequoia/King's Canyon area of California, our local roads are what this car was designed for. Pros: Great Fun to drive, Very thrifty on gas, Easy to work on.Parts are plentiful and cheap. Good looking little car. Roadsters are cool!! Cons: zero |

Great Little Roadster, Short On Power To Be A True Sports Car. — The early Miatas truly embodied the "jinba ittai" design philosophy that the engineers had in mind. It melds horse and rider as one. It also has the styling of a Lotus Elan and the light tossability of an MGB with the reliability of a Civic. As the Miata progressed through the years it became less roadster and more sports car, and this first Miata wasn't much of a speed demon. It's a roadster at heart, and it performs that function admirably. 116 hp demands driver involvement to keep forward motion at an entertaining level. Fortunately the ultralight curb weight of around 2200 pounds helps get the most from the 1.6 liter inline four. Handling is very solid, weight balance is 50/50, and the brakes are perfectly sufficient with fade only in the most extreme situations. The joy to drive factor is about as high as it gets. Pros: Great handling, involving driving experience, good reliability, great gas mileage. Cons: Paint is thin and can be expected to need a repaint after about 10 to 12 years, power is merely adequate, early models ('90-'93) had very little chassis bracing and flex quite a bit. |

Awesome — That's a hell of a car. Although it's HP number is low, it feels quite fast because of the Close-ratio transmission. But when it comes to cornering, nothing beats it. Or almost nothing. The chassis is really stiff, in fact, the whole car is stiff despite the fact that it's a convertible. On this perticular car, the stock suspension was replaced by KYB AGX adjustable shock and Flyin' Miata spings. Some small frame reinforcement was added with a rear rollbar. The engine was replaced by a BP-4W from a totaled '99 Miata. The brakes are up-sized '97 stock brakes. The power steering was removed along with the A/C. Other than that, the car is bone stock and it feels like a race car! Awesome! Pros: Feels Quick, stiff car, apex lover, small, convertible (Awesome in the summer :D), cute AND beautiful looking Cons: Slow in reality, no space, not highway friendly (4000rpm @ 120kph) |

The Most Fun Driving A Car I've Ever Had — My buddy (co-driver) and I effectively re-built this car by the time it was all said and done. He bought it for a steal and we went to work on it prepping it for CSP class in Autocross. What a blast! I won 2nd Place for CSP in the Atlanta Region two years in a row, '05 and '06. Pros: Handled like it was on rails, VERY peppy Cons: Can't really think of any |

Karting For The Streets — 116bhp from a 1.6 + weighs nothing + grips like crazy + Mazda build quality = Best deal in the world In 174000 kilometers (appx 110000 miles), the only repair I had was a change of battery. I did chew a lot of tyres though ;-) Pros: Fun fun fun fun Cons: Ehhh ... none, honestly. |

Driven It For 5 Years, And Loved Every Minute But Is Now A Little Small For Me — great car, covertable, a last to drive fast around the twisties and loves to go cone hunting (autocrossing) Pros: gas mileage, convertable, RWD, 5spd, handling, silver Cons: not good in the snow lol |
