bought this car for $500.00 off a guy in the street, i was just going to need it for 3 months. until i got back home, its engine was almost shot, it held on for the three months i needed it. the day the guy who bough it and me had the car legally transfered, the engine seized. i was on a plane back to PR, but i sent him the $200.00 he paid me for the car... we are still friends... really we are.Sep 18, 2010

Classic mk 4 escort rule!! Handles well and is nippy 4 an old girl. Wkd leather recaros and turbo bodykit, very fun in the summer with d roof down, cruising round brighton or london!! Love them muchly, had about 20 lolAug 13, 2010

performance: The 1.4i in the mk4 escort for european market. the acceleration is not fast but it goes forward, upphil it lacks power so you have to shift gears down.
handling and braking: my car has rs turbo unddercarriage so it sits good on the road and breaks good.
Build quality: it is allright not bad but not good.
Appearance: standar look with fog light in the bumper
Cost of owner ship: no idea it's not wery expensive when it's working 100%

220 bhp escort rs turbo max speed 157 mph then rod came out the front of the engine lol. 12 mpg with normal driving down to 8 mpg when giving it some. very fun car to own thats why i have had threeMar 07, 2010

legend!!!! high lift cam, modified carb and performance filter meant this car was able to beat any chavy boy racer away from any set of lights and brilliant suspension setup meant it handled like it was on rails. only one word describes this car legend!!!!Sep 27, 2009

My very first car, so of course I loved it! From memory, it was a red five door 1.3 Popular - not an option given here. Nearly killed myself on a roundabout when the gearbox knackered and went through the steering column a week after I passed my test, but still great.
Fairly cheap to run, cost next to nothing to buy, parts were easy to come by so it was quite straightforward getting the many repairs that it needed done. It was an old car when I bought it, so that was to be expected. Aug 16, 2009

This car is a boyhood dream for me, and its lived up to its esteem in my eyes. Being and old car, it will obviously need a bit of work doing to it to get it up to scratch, but in total I think this is a really good car, and is amazing fun to drive when the tubo kicks in. Obviously it drinks petrol like a marathon runner but with the speed of this car, it is a marathon runner.Nov 27, 2008

i love it its old skol.its easy to work on amazingly cheap for parts.and more importantly rs turbo bits are incredibly cheap on ebay now so thats a bonus!My car loks more 5years old nit 18yars old its well clean and get washed waxed and polished every week.

I will own another Escort GT (86-90). Cheap to insure, easy to maintain, and GREAT on gas. Nice power and performance from a 1.9L 8V I4 engine. Enough to keep a smile on your face while getting 30+ MPG. I kinda wish I would have not sold it to my brother.Sep 15, 2008

Solid Steel Build, Saved my @ss when I rolled it on the M3! Was good fun to drive. Whacked some alloys and a fat exhaust system on it! plus some neon jets and wiper fins.

Unlike the stock photo mine was red.
I owned this car for about 2 weeks before i got an offer i couldnt refuse from someone wanting to buy it off me. If i had the chance now i would seriously consider getting one again just basically on its looks although more than likely a younger model - fantastic in the summer when you can put the top down, although im guessing every convertible is!
Good looking although unfortunately not refined as the song goes..... acceleration was fab very poweful, braking was a bit sharp in my opinion, awful car over bumps, very squeaky even when not going over bumps although i think that this was mainly due to its age. I purchased Farfel in Spring 1993, senior year of high school. My dad borrowed Farfel one afternoon and got smashed by a woman backing out of a parking spot. Right about that same time, the State of CA wouldn't register Mergatroid the Mercedes due to being a gross polluter, so my dad bought Farfel from me as a "temporary" car. The ugly thing wouldn't die. Bought this for 1300 quid when it was around 12 years old, with reading of 60K. Everything worked, including the roof! It drove pretty quick and did draw some attention when I sped though town centres with its modified speakers on full volumn. EXTERIOR
The basic model Ford is mainly driven by people who just sit all day turning slowly into beige. That's because it's the last car to turn any heads. The faster RS model actually looked pretty good because of the flashy facelift. If a young bloke wanted a sleek looking escort, he had two options: buying the RS, or fitting the basic model with the same bodykit (all show and no go, that is)

INTERIOR
Well, there isn't any. But there are plenty of aftermarket steering wheels, gear knobs, pedals and seats that suit perfectly the escort's sporty exterior.

Insuring is cheap, but fuel economy is terrible, 26 miles to the gallon. That's in the same category with Porsche Boxter!!

I replaced my CV axle on my 90's 1.9L 5 speed escort. all the fluid drained out and I cant figure out where to refill it. I read that I can use ATF fluid, and that it might be where the speedometer cable attaches. I cant seem to get the right answer. Help
