Astra Lives On — The handling is spot on, it goes like stink with R1 carbs, the only problem is the driver having a red mist like moment now and again. The body work at the moment is good, but soon can be rearranged whn the armco barrier looms!!!

Pros: Great drive

Cons: dear to run

My First Legal Road Going Car — Bought from my dad, who brought from my mum. One of the only cars I had that didn't die, get crashed or stolen.

Pros: Fuel economy, good handling, 5 doors so i didn't have to get out to let people in, purple

Cons: Slow as a potato

Vauxhall Astra Gte Convertible — The Vauxhall Astra GTE was launched back in 1983 and was a legendary piece of kit, knocking the Golf GTi right off the number one slot and winning all sorts of motorsport events especially WRC Various models were available but key players were the Astra GTE 2.0 8V 115 BHP, also available in convertible, and the beastly 2.0 16v 150 BHP red top monster. There were some early models with 1.8 litre engines but to be honest these are not worth mentioning The was also a very limited “Champion” edition which was the only GTE to come with leather seats as standard Handling is a bit iffy but can be easily sorted out with some up-rated suspension. Unfortunately time has not been kind to these cars some examples getting on for 25 years old so watch out for rust especially around the rear arches.

Pros: Retro Cool

Rally Pedigree

Reasonably quick in and guise

Price

Cons: Prone to Rust

Poor handling on standard suspension

Getting hard to find a mint one

An Absolute Motoring Legend Ask Any Builder/ Gas Fitter Circa 1980 — Renowned for being driven at warp 5 by British Gas and the like the MK2 Astravan got a name for itself, but sadly because of this heritage very few survive. I'm fortunate enough to own this piece of 80's heaven.

Pros: Its a van, its 80's, its a Vauxhall, its rare

Cons: NONE
