1989 Pontiac Firebird Formula — I bought my firebird from a friend from high school, and it was a daily driver for one summer. The car is very quick, and the clutch is easy to operate. I've had it up to 107mph before the front end started shaking, so it needs a little suspension and alignment work. However, it's very fun, especially since you can remove the t-tops in the warmer weather. It's in storage now, but when it's on the road it turns heads.

Pros: 5.0L 300hp (approx), 5 speed stick, t-tops

Cons: Body structure unsound, top leaks in heavy rain, not good for winter

Pontiac Firebird — The third generation Pontiac Firebird is best remembered for it's role as KITT in the 80s TV show that made David Hasselhoff a household name, Knight Rider. Dispite it's huge F-Body frame and relatively modest performance figures this is a real drivers car. It's looks are just awesome so who cares about power ? Remove the t-top roof and soak up the sun while cruise control let's you beleive KITT has taken over. A great summer car for little money but plenty of pose factor.

Pros: Great looks, T-Top roof, comfort

Cons: Under powered and parts can be difficult to import

Okay Beginner Car — Bought this in 06 as my first car. Okay acceleration and braking. The repair list is never-ending, and the paint looks like a 3rd grade special ed class did it. It is a gas guzzler. It is fairly fun to drive, but i've driven better. The ride is the worst of any vehicle I have ridden in.

Pros: Cheap purchase price

Cons: poor mileage, high insurance, police profiling, low quality

2.8 Liter = Firechicken —

I am writing this review for my 2.8 Liter automatic 1989 Firebird. Driving this vehicle has given me some very mixed feelings. First off the performance of the 2.8 Liter is a joke, the car is horrible underpowered with its tiny 6 cylinder engine. The transmission and the engine work well together but the car is starved for power especially when compared to its v8 counterpart. The ride is rough since the car is so low to the ground, it almost has a truck like feel to it. The truck like feel does not apply to handling though, since this car has such a low and wide stance it takes corners with no hesitation which can be a blast on the right roads. The comfort as far as the interior goes is ok if your in front and hellish if you are ever unfortunate enough to have to sit in the rear of one of these cars. Exterior-wise this car is a classic I mean how can you see a Firebird and not have 80's flashbacks? All in all I would recommend the V8 bird and live with the gas prices, it would be a much funner car and more worth my time.

Pros: handling rocks, very good instrument/control layout, good gas mileage, Night Rider, Smokey and the Bandit I mean comon, T-Tops rock!

Cons: V6 model is begging for more power, rear seats are pretty much pointless, these cars like to rust, pretty much summer only car if you live where it snows hard to get traction, rides like a lumber wagon

My First — this was my first car i ever owned. the interior was bland but functional, the breaking and handling weren't the best but it had a good amount of power for a teenagers first car. it won the only three races i raced it in and got to 120 for the first time.

Pros: beats 1994 5.0 mustangs with ease

Cons: ws6 package makes for a really stiff ride

This Is My Baby!!!! — O to 60 in 5. She's fast, she's sweet, and with racing tires, she can handle curves like nobody's business. The Firebird Formula has a reinforced body and frame, to handle the torque generated by a V8 Engine in such a small body. In the standard Firebird, this engine would twist the front end, and pop out the windshield. So yes, she's tuff stuff.

Pros: All American Muscle, sleek lines, great accelleration, and excellent handling.

Cons: You can't drive this in the snow.

Back Seats Ranked 1989 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z Convertible RWD worse.
"Neither one of these cars have great back seats, they were only ever put there to make insurance cheaper for middle class working people to begin with! You dont drive one of these because of their back seat, period!"
Value Ranked 1989 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z Convertible RWD worse.
"Fewer were made, more likely to bring a couple more bucks in from a collector. Mostly preference, I liked the Trans Am better on a personal lever but over-all they are CLOSE to the same but not."
