Why Won't You Die — This thing wouldn't die. Seriously. I drove it for several months with a busted head gasket. I still see the car rolling around the area, fine as ever. Everything about it was garbage, except the ~27mpg I would get, and the fact that it wouldn't die. Pros: reliable as hell, economical Cons: ugly as sin, gutless |

Honda... Need I Say More? — good milage... made like a Japanese Bushido Samuri. I worked on this car the most... air intake and manifold... stab. arms .... and breaks and discs... so easy to work on. These people dont like my language so... I really cant emphasise the car and how AWSOME it was.. Pros: fast. small easy to work on. Cons: none. I dont have it any more. |

Old Jap Econobox — I had two late 80s Accords which were both good fro their segment, I guess I just am kinda snobby anymore so consider them now kinda junky build wise. Hondas cars traditionally are all very lightweight for the most part until the new models that have started coming out. These had the typical Dual Wishbone suspension setup which allows this Front wheel drive car to handel pretty decently, although I am partial to Rear wheel drive and All Wheel Drive vehicles. This generation accord and all others are good on MPG although this generation is not as advanced as the newer ones which will show in the gas mileage bein a little lower. Steer clear of the old Carbuerated engines, and Make sure you get the 16 valve engine for the added torque and overall power and reliability. If you ened a cheap econobox here you go, just really watch out for rust as it is teerible on this generation as Honda and all Asian imports from this time frame were still using JUNKY steel for their car bodies so they are most defintely rust prone and by now cancerous looking heaps. Pros: MPG, Very inexpensive repair costs for the most part! Honda Reliability, Handeling good for Front wheel Drive car, Aftermarket Parts upgrades are still available (AKA it is a HONDA!) Cons: Rust Prone like you wouldn't believe, FWD, most came without a LSD differential, Front Headlight lift Motors are prone to failing, Window Motors on Power windows die to fast! I am personally not a fan of Shifting by wire manual transmissions, although Honda 5 speeds are easy to shift and smooth driving econo-machines. |

'88 Accord Lxi — Great Car; put 50k on it in a year, the thing just wouldn't die. Ended up getting rid of it because of not wanting to invest in 2 new struts, lack of airbags, and it started to develop a steering problem. Other than that, it was the best $500 bucks I ever spent. I'm sure someone is still driving it, that motor is amazing as far as durability, sounds better than a Civic too. Got over 35 mpg with the 5spd manual. Owner for 2 years, 6 months Miles Driven per Year:50 Pros: headlights, go-kart handling, acceleration, extremely reliable, excellent gas milage. Cons: no airbags, not much leg room in the back. |

Got Me Through College — Can't complain, good college car didn't cost me that much had a 2.0 litre engine so I could at least beat Civic's, had to get rid of it when the brake lines snapped on me, many good times in this old car Pros: Sunroof, 5spd, peppy, low cost and couldn't kill the engine Cons: Leaky sunroof, a/c didn't work, leaked power steering fluid |

Reliable Car — This car was sitting in my cousins yard for almost three years with a busted out windshield. He gave it to me just to get it out of his yard. I replaced the windshield, fixed a flat, put some new plugs, cap and rotor and fired it up. Mine is white. Pros: 30 plus miles to the gallon. Cons: it has over 180,000 miles, lost some compression, but still runs like a champ. |

Great First Car — Pretty quick for what it is as a manual trans, won lots of races. Hauled an 80cc dirtbike in the trunk. Engine will last forever, took the valve cover off to take a peek and there was very mimimal wear and no sludge build up, car has over 350,000k on it and all it needs is a carburator rebuild and a rad. Pros: Roomy. Cons: Alternator is a pain in the ass to replace. |
