My First Real Car — The E30 3-series BMW is one of those iconic cars from the 80's that really put BMW on the map. Mine was a manual and being a small 2 litre inline 6 engine it operated mainly on revs, or in lamens terms it wasn't the easiest to drive but once you get the hang of it it is a lovely car to drive. Mine had a performance exhaust on which made it sound awesome.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Exciting to drive, comfortable, classic

Cons: Some reliability issues, not the lightest runner or cheapest to maintain

Classic — It was a realy nice car, the look was awesome and the performance was amazing but with high consume of gasoline. This car is a moder classic for most of the people for veru good reasons. Not every car have that agresive look without loosing elegance.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Fun

Cons: High consume

Great Car To Buy - In 1990! — In 1990, it was a great car! ;-) It was luxurious for me, but still affordable. I am not sure if I would buy it now, as it is an old car. It was fun to drive, but I recommend the BMW 850 now!

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Cool for a first car!

Cons: It is ooooold now!

E30 — Indestructible motor and transmission. Solid transmission action. Smooth power delivery. Recaro driver seat was perfect for me. 7 series brake master cylinder really firmed up brakes. handled wonderfully. could hang tail out all day. Classic body lines. leak at the firewall and need for larger car prompted sale

Pros: Great chassis

Cons: Watch for rust

Green Power — great car, superb wonderfull, nice acceleration, interior could be better, a lot of maintenance required, 10l per 100km, the handling is a little bit adventurious but ok, but great fun, nice and easy driving yet dangerious in the wintertimes, some nice unexpected drifting

Pros: nice sound

Cons: gasolineslurper

Everyone Should Have One — Modern day classic from the second it left the assembly line. Fantastic ,solidly buil,t reliable, recognisable and I think pretty cool. I've choosen to put mine in original spec with no bolt on nastiness you can see some of these E30 having been subjected to I reckon if it ain't broke don't fix it and if you want chav mobile buy a jap car not a german one :)

Pros: looks good goes great

Cons: irish road tax and insurance for occassional use cars is extorsion

1988 E30 — performance wise, its no m3, but it could run very well. the quality is outstanding. some minor repairs, but nothing major. i love how it looks. i still get some compliments and a few offers. just have to know a little about maintaining the car. and have to know where to get the parts cheap.

Pros: love the looks, and there are so many options you can put in...

Cons: maintenance is quite costly...

My '88 Bmw 325ix — very good car, the 5 speed manual is the way to go. It pulls well in the higher gears at lower speeds. the All wheel drive is awesome for the rain or snow. I prefer the '88 because it is the only year with the BBS wheels, sport seats, front and rear spoilers. the other years have one or more of these missing.

Pros: All wheel drive, 5 speed, 2 door, perfect steering, 25 mpg, 0-60 in 7.1 seconds

Cons: what negatives?
