Solid — Solid Truck for a 1987 2wd. My truck has 198000 miles and runs strong. Has lots of cheap body problems but the motor and drivetrain are solid. Gas mileage isnt to high but for an old worn down work truck it still achieves 15+. The exterior has its flaws with the recycled sheet metal. Trucks require a little more maintenance like timing chains, oils, filters and the like but this helps its long running dependability. Great strong overall truck and I definetly will own another one. Pros: Tough Truck Cons: Rust |

Fun Toy — fun off roading, great quality, toyota quality and typical toyata rust, performed well untill I put a rod through the block, parts were expensive and hard to find, the interior was small for a guy that is six foot five, the truck was a blast to drive, on and off road Pros: fun to 4x4 with Cons: too much rust |

87 Toyota Pickup — Brutus is the best truck ever. I might even like it better than my new car, the Rx-8, based purely on emotional attachment. It's got a nice little 2.4 liter non-turbo edition of Toyota's 4 cyl. engine and it's combined with a small suspension lift as well as 33 inch all terrain tires. As you could imagine this thing loves to burn rubber at every opportunity; total drag racer fo sho. Not. But it's a beast off road with lots of low end torque and its fun to drive because you can see over pretty much everyone except the losers in lifted Fords, Dodges, Chevys. Hey, at least I get 20 mpg in my truck, eh. Needed an axle repaired when I bought it, also a replaced fuel pump and a fixed crack in the radiator. Alternator went out about a year after I bought it. Replaced that, got it tuned up, hasn't had a problem since and it's got 287,500 miles. Not surprising, it's a Toyota. Interior is in excellent condition for how old the truck is and what it's been used for. Exterior is decent. There are a few dents here and there and it looks like someone took a knife to the front hood (I still don't know what happened to that) and scraped off the paint and part of the metal. 4wd still works great, gets awesome traction. Installed some HID clear bright white headlights in effort to improve visibility, but I was disappointed overall. Low beams are too dim and high beams are awesome for brightness but don't project far enough. Also installed a JVC CD player with some new speakers a few years back. Sounded better but still not great. I would definitely recommend this (specific) truck to a friend, but I doubt I'd let many of my friends drive it. I'm just as protective of this car as I am my Rx-8! Pros: Great traction, visibility, reliability, off-roadability, comfortable seats, looks good Cons: 0-60 somewhere around 15 second range, no power up hills, suspension feels like a board it's so stiff |

Tough And Relaible — I took my 70 year old gramps out on a dune run like this (no top). We were smoking! Al fours off the gorund and this baby just purred. Got stolen from my strret. New tires and new battery, improved struts and suspension. To be honestthis truck on the exterior looked like (expletive). But it was the machine that was my clutch hitter in the ninth Pros: Never let me down. The engine always cranked on the FIRST turn of the key. Cons: This was a ride chicks ( that I was dating at the time) did not dig. See previous car.... |

Loved It, But Totalled It... — I absolutely loved this truck. It ran great and was a very smooth ride. I still have it on the side of my house, but I can't drive it anymore. I hit a patch of ice in the big storm of '06-'07 and slid off the rode into a couple trees. Pros: Was a great truck to drive back and forth to school and was fun to take offroad. Cons: Didn't have a lot of power, it was a 4 cyl. |
