The 944 Is A Cool Car, But Save Your Pennies For A 911 — The 944 is an unique Porsche but it has it's flaws. The cooling system looks like it was designed by the French. Oil and coolant are mortal enemies and should never co-mingle but only an o-ring separates the two in the oil cooler.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: The 50/50 weight distribution is fantastic

Cons: The repair charges are outragious

Fun — Handles really well around corners, good acceleration once you get the hang of the super heavy clutch, the quality is great because it is still in good condition even though an 87', 27mpg is great for a sports car, most porsches are much less, it needs regular maintenance but it's not too bad

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Handling

Cons: Not passenger friendly

Handles Great. Very Sharp Looking — it handles great. when i stop at an intersection all eyes are on the porsche. it starts everytime even in below zero temps. parts are costly but very seldom needs repairs. never breaks down. they built them solid. customizing is fun

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: good gas milage

Cons: hard to find garage that will work on these

If You Can Afford The Upkeep And Can Find A Nice One Buy It. Don't Think, Just Do It. — Great car. I miss this one a lot! Not a lot of room inside, but it feels like a drivers car. Everything about it said "DRIVE ME!" The car looks great with a very distinctive style. Nothing on the road drive like a Porsche.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Fun to drive and looks great too.

Cons: expensive to maintain, very expensive parts

Great Car, Well Balanced — I own a 1987 Porsche 944 turbo. Otherwise known as a Porsche 951. The car was designed to be a well balanced sports car. Not heavy on power, nor on weight. Thanks to it's 50/50 weight balance and great torque curve, the car can cut through turns like a cart on rails, with enough power to soak up the straights in seconds.

Pros: Very quick, and a blast to cruise in. Gets lots of attention

Cons: Not so great on gas. Repair bills can make grown men cry.

944 — This car was the most fun car I have ever driven. It handles like a street-legal go-kart. The 0-60 time wasn't anything to brag about, since I owned the non-turbo model. But punch it from a rolling start, and away she went! It was also suprisingly practical, achieving an average of 25mpg.

Pros: Handling, Performance, Style, Comfort, Practicality

Cons: Parts were relatively inexpensive and easy to find, but the cost of labor will kill you.

Turbo — Where should I start? Let's just say my baby is high maintenance. I could've dated Paris Hilton and impressed her with my wallet for what this Princess costs me. Repairs are not fun. Driving is though, and most newer sports cars aren't as comfortable for tall people like me. Handling is amazing. I once did a hockey stop with it and never felt out of control. From 1000-3500 rpm it's tame, comfortable, and polite. From 3500-6500, it flies, slides, and screams.

Pros: Handling, braking, power

Cons: repairs

My 944 Turbo... Just Gorgeous — Performance is amazing althought a small mulfunctioning part can do a big difference, the build quality is just (a porsche) every detail is very well thought off but bit costy as replacement part wise, appearance for me i love it line and i think that in some perspective it the most beautiful design ever its very slik appearance i just adore it, fun factor it has an amazing handeling and controle i have real great time just flying between cars as fast as i can it has a great response

Pros: great fun and amazingly well designed car

Cons: negative fuel consuption althought its a porsche when u have a porsche u dont think abt fuel consumption

Great Two Seater Classic Sports Car — Awsome car! Most fun you can have with you pants firmly attached in 1987 and now! Will buy purchasing shortly. Great acceleration and excellent gas mileage. Maintenance can be a bit pricey. All in all very fun car to drive and be seen driving. Would recommend to anyone as long as you find one in good condition.

Pros: Looks stunning, quite fast

Cons: Older car, expensive to repair
