1986 Toyota CorollaReview

Toyota's Hot Hatch - Ahead Of Its Time. — Ever since being taken for a test drive in a Twin Cam AE82 Corolla when on work experience at a Toyota dealership, I have wanted to own one. A few years ago, prices for them had come down far enough for me to be able to buy it. Ok, the body is rusty, it feels a bit tinny and flimsy when closing the doors, and it's been in a couple of minor accidents (before I bought it, mind you), every time i drive it those issues seem like minor quirks. The performance, in its day, was class leading, and it was ahead of its time in having fuel injection and twin cam multi-valve technology, a fact proudly displayed rather garishly down each side. Even 20 years later, with tired suspension, substandard brake pads and over 250,000km on the chassis, its performance and handling is still enough to bring a smile to my face. Pros: Engine, handling, fuel economy Cons: Over-the-top decals, age, tendency to rust. |

Best Car In Its Class — The best looking car in its class when you apply a bit of work and a kit. also the best performer when its a bit warmed up. It has best engine and is also used on the racing track. It looks nice with the right wheels and drives like a dream. Pros: built to last a lifeyime Cons: its carborator and not fuel injection |

Ideal Drift Car — If you're looking for a cheap drift car, the 1986 toyota corolla gt-s is the way to go. It's perfectly balanced so modifying it to drift won't be a factor. Drift enthusiasts have claim this car to be a great beginner drift car for those who are looking to drift. Pros: Cheap car, cheap OEM and after market parts. Cons: Finding one nowadays is hard. And when you do, the owner's not selling it. And if they are, It's kind of steep for a 1986 car. |

1986 Toyota Corolla Sr5 Hatchback 2 Dr. Cpe — I owned one back in 1988, SR5 Hatchback, with 88,000 miles when I first bought it from a used car dealer. The only draw back was the carburator either the primary or secondary solenoid for the idle and fuel mixture, otherswise fun to drive and fuel saver. I owned this car for 6 yrs. Owner for 6 years, 0 months Miles Driven per Year:10,000 |
