1985 Toyota Corolla SR5 HatchbackReview

Great — I just love everything about it 200,000 miles and still going. Paint still looks good and everything works sunroof, pop up lights. Great performance. Have put about 1000.00 into it. Gas mileage couldn't be better. Interior seats didn't hold up as good as I would have liked. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: positive Cons: none |

Toyota Ae86 — Toyota Corolla GTS which is same as the AE86. 125hp engine with very very light body. I bought one for $1200 and ripped all the interior to make it a much lighter car. Recaro seat, HKS intake, TRD exhaust, gasket kit, gears, suspension kit, bars...a very fun car to drive with.. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: good handling and very light Cons: lack of power, body needed alot of works |

Ae86 — this is my new AE86, this one is a GTS version, my last one was a SR5, what makes it a GTS is that it has the fuel injected DOHC engine, LSD, and rear disc brakes. I plan on turning this into a track car. I havn't decided what to do with the engine yet, either pull it out, and put a 20v engine in it, or maybe build a 1jz for it, or I could just rebuild that 4AGE with high compression pistons, and individual throttle bodies, I havn't decided. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: very light, 50-50 weight distribution, FR front engine, rear wheel drive, LSD, looks amazing. Cons: no A/C |

Even Though Its Old, It's A Lot Of Fun To Drive And Tune. Great Restoration Project!! — Acceleration is slow but peaky. Braking is ok, handles great. Build quality? It's a Toyota! Of course, it'll be great. For a 20 yr old car, of course, it'll need repairs and has alot of squeaks and rattles. I love how it looks... For a 20 yr old car.. Good gas mileage and cheap to maintain.. LOTS AND LOTS OF FUN to drive!!! Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: Sporty look, RWD, TOYOTA!!!! Cons: Old, lots of stuff needs to be fixed. |

Had The Damn Thing For Over 6-7 Years And It's Gonna Be A Keeper For Me, Ha!~~~~ — It's an old car, lots of miles on it--but it's fun to drive since it's got the LSD, 4ag twin cam motor thingy in there, plus it's rear wheel drive, as opposed to my 88 gts. Back then Toyota found the right formula to have a fun, sporty rear wheel drive car without breaking the piggy bank- that was the 1985/87 Corolla GTS. With it's not so pretty looking styles and lines, one can grow onto it. Then these Initial D/ touge kids with their wannabe drifting on the mountain deals are destroying these cars and think they can find another one on the recylcer or something. It's sad to say that this car is a dying breed only because of the owners' own neglegiance. If you do it, do it on the TRACK!!! Hahaha I'm gonna get flamed for this!!! ^_~; Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: Light, fun, rear wheel drive Cons: for a 25+ year old car people are on the hunt for these things |
