380sl — Thought a 26 year old Benz might not make the treck from KC to Chicago last yesr. Not only did we get there and back without a hitch, We also brought back the trophy for the Chicagoland MBCA Concours d'Elegance.

Pros: It's Mine

Cons: Can't take it out as often as I'd like

1983 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class 500SL Review
The 380SL and 500SL have essentially the same body, drive train, interior cabin, and amenities. Both are rear wheel drive cars. The 380 is a touch lighter, gets better mileage, and has essentially the same cruising experience as a 500SL. The 500SL (if the road is dry and clear) will go 0-60 a bit faster, but can be overpowered in wet or gravel.

Family Car Ranked 1983 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class 500SL worse.
"Actually, neither car is a family car except for date night. Then - they beat everything!"
Value Ranked 1983 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class 500SL worse.
"It comes down to mileage, preferences and the specifics of the vehicle. Low mileage makes a difference, as does the condition of the likely-to-fail areas, like dashboard, leather, top and wheels. "
