1980 Subaru LeoneReview
She's A Great, Reliable, Loving Machine. —
She's a great little car. she'll go dang near anywhere you need her too, and her only complaint is that her cv's hurt. but she toughs it out anyway. I've had her burried to the frame once, and it took a jeep an hour to pull her out. if she gets stuck, she does it right the first time. she is powered by a 1600 cc flat 4 boxer motor. to be more specific, its the EA71 top center mounted starter version. she throws a whopping 68hp @ 4800rpm and a whopping 85 lb-ft torque @ 2800 rpm through her very unpopular single-range 4 speed transmission. she gets around 22-25mpg. and I proved she can get 22mpg running on only 3 cylinders... dang plug wires anyway. she uses only the best items to run, including: NGK Iridium spark plugs $8 each, premium fuel w/60 point octane boost, and Castrol GTX motor oil. I got her when she was 113,600 miles young, and now she has 141,300 miles on her, and still running strong. she has a brand new clutch, speedometer cable, radiator, and H3 conversion kit for her 9003 headlights. she also has a full set of new rubber. soon she will go through chemo, and we'll get her some new paint. I'm thinking about using a cobalt blue with an organic green, but still not 100%
Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)
Pros: she's a blast, she makes driving a hatch, a good thing.
Cons: because she will run you off the road, and she will beat you off road.
