Sports Car Experience On An Economy — If you're a fan of the classic British Sportscar then this impractical and poorly designed car is for you. It leaves a lot to be desired in terms of handling and won't out accelerate most modern cars. Driving the Spitfire is shaky, bumpy and uncomfortable. It is however fun in bundles. Top speed of 105mph and only 70bhp. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: Basic wind in yer face motoring. Easy to work on. Cons: If only the performance matched the looks! ![]() Looking for a Used Spitfire in your area?CarGurus has 17 nationwide Spitfire listings and the tools to find you a great deal. |

Great Summer Fun Sports Car. — I bought this car for $4,500 in 1991 and it sat for many many years. I have fully restored it and added many custom parts including a new carb from PRI Performance Research Industries. The carb is a motorcycle carb on each cylinder and increases performance considerably. My next upgrade is 16 inch performance tires and new suspension also from PRI. If you upgrade this car it performs amazingly and gets more looks than a 911. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: Great fun lightweight car. Everyone wants to know about this car. I put about $24,000 into restoration but feels like a more expensive car. Cons: Small |

It Is A True Classic — not too fast ,stable at cornering but very difficult to reach a skidding point . not good for drifting even with rear wheel drive , you must always tune the twin carbes . it dos not look good with hard to , very sexy when its converted . Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: one for tow only Cons: gets rusty |
