Restored Or Useable: Great Economical Fun. Stripped: Best Track Car Ever! — Following the site required specifics, this car is a lot of fun! Although it has only 95 or so horsepower, it goes like a bat out of hell! Handling is almost like a dream as it has a 49/51 balance ratio and seems to be glued to the pavement. As for its build quality it has a few setbacks. The uni-body construction is a great start however, it needs to have many of its connection points re-connected with rubber grommets in order to minimize the various squeeks and groans that I have heard the car make while driving. It also needs a complete reworking of the shift gate apparatus as it is too prone to wearing out after about 100,000 or so kms. The appearance of the car is most certainly pleasing to the eye especially if there is a fairing package and a "Whale Tail" on the rear deck. Sure, it may not be the most powerful car that Porsche has built, but do you have a Porsche? Fuel miliage is pretty good for a well maintained 924 such as mine although I have yet to do the calculations for ltrs./100kms. Regular maintainence is most certainly more frequent for an exotic, even one that is low on the scale as a 924, but still worth the right of ownership.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Almost perfect balance ratio. Beautiful handling vehicle.

Cons: Multiple fuel systems available. Too many back yard mech's have screwed them up. Most of them not educated enough.

So Much Potential, If Not For The Electronics — Performance is amazing. Never drove something with a quicker acceleration or top speed. Look's fantastic, especially since I had the Martini Rossi racing edition. Build Quality - Terrible. Stay away from this one unless you love fiddling with fuses and wiring day in and out. Engine is amazing but the Germans didn't have a clue back then when it came to electronics apparently. Comfort - Amazing. Seats go all the way back, and they're comfy! Easy car to sleep in, especially with the removable sunroof detached.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Fast, comfortable, sexy!

Cons: Don't rely on it to get you anywhere.

Nice Car — Great handling and braking. Acceleration was so-so. Great styling. Great fun to drive. I was thinking of possibly getting a sports car in 1977 and drove this to compare with the Datsun Z. Compared to the 924, the Z drove like a Buick!

Pros: Handling, Braking, Styling

Cons: Cost, build quality was reported to not be very good

Fun Car; Always Admitted It Didn't Have Any Guts, But No One Would Believe Me. — Well - if you know where the 924 came from, you'll understand the summary. It was designed for VW (sister company of Audi & Porsche) and they turned it down. So Porsche kept it, along with the VW-quality interior, etc. Engine wasn't really big enough, but as long as you didn't TRY to race someone, no one would believe you that it was really an under-powered, good looking machine. I can't remember how many times guys would ask me "So is it pretty fast?" and I'd just look at them, shake my head and say (honestly) "No, not really." They'd always laught and say "Right!" LOL Mine was a bright, beautiful yellow. Sold that one to buy my condo. *sigh*

Pros: Beautiful car.  Fun to Drive.

Cons: VW interior, not quite up to Porsche quality/build standards (IMHO).  Tended to get really HOT around the muffler, etc.

German Quality At Its Best!! — This car is simply awesome. Nobody knows exactly what it is. I get complements on it all the time. I especially like the "I like your Ferrari" comments.

Pros: Head turning car with the torque of a freight train.

Cons: Not too many parts available anymore.

Sophisticated, Smooth & Speedy — Not much to dislike, except maybe the Navigation input, somewhat tricky at first but once you do it, it's a cake walk. The exceptional pro to this vehicle is the Manual to Auto mode with the 5 spd Tiptronic transmission - fun down shifting to hear the revs and even funner up shifting to hear the wind racing by you.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Performance from the front to the back and from the bottom to the top,  The acceleration is amazing and smooth in all gears in this fabulous 5spd Tiptronic equiped Turbo S Cab.

Cons: Golf anyone?  Oh wait I'll have to put them in the passengers seat or keep them at the club house.
