I Enoyed The Car And If I Didn't Already Have Six Cars I Woudn't Mind Owning Another One. —

I had a 1977 Ford Granada 2 Dr with a 302V8 and factory 4 speed. Forth gear was over drive. When I brought the car it had slightly over size tires on it and it handled exceptionally well. My car had a large rear end which was very heavy and it went fantastic in the snow. The rear main seal went and I had to keep on replacing clutches until I finally replaced the seal. Forth gear (over drive) and third gear are too close in ratio. The car had plenty of power in first and second, only fair in third and not too good in over drive. Ford had a lot of trouble with their valve seals in the seventies and my Granada was no exception. The seals turn rock hard, break up and clog the oil pump screen which staves the engine for oil. If the pass kicks in then in a piece of valve seal may then get sucked into the oil pump. The chip will then break the pump and twist off the shaft the drives the distributor. I suggest that anyone with a Ford engine in the seventies have their valve seals replaced if they are original. My car was rust proofed and I thought that was a good thing, but as it turned out the rust proofing material ruined car. The material let go from the body partially and water got in between the rust proof material and the body itself. You couldn't tell what was going on under the rust proof coating and by the time I realized what was going on the body was too far gone to save. I've heard some people knock the Granada, but I certainly liked my Granada and I enjoyed driving it. I once got into an accident in a snow storm while crossing over high way bridge that suddenly froze over. Although the car received quite a bit of damage it stood up quite well considering I took on a tractor trailer and a guard rail.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Handles very well, great in the snow, nice looking and comfortable to drive

Cons: Third and forth gear ratios are too close, wipe motor difficult to change,

1977 Ford Granada — I only owned the car for a few months, but from the experience I had with it it was a pretty good car. It had a 302 V8, mated to a C4 automatic Transmission, but the best part was the 4.11 gearing in the rear axle. That car could get up and move, despite the fact that an unknown problem caused it to pull to the right whenever you gunned it. The build quality was pretty good, but the exhaust was falling apart and it was missing a Catalytic converter. It was cheap to buy, but gas sadly was not. It guzzled gas. It had about 80K miles, so it was low low mileage for its age. It was a blast to drive and work on, but sadly it had to go because of maintenance costs.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Fast, Fun Ford that was pretty cheap to buy.

Cons: Body work was lacking, and it needed way too much work for the money I had at the time.

Nightmare — I had bought what was supposed to be a good car. Withing a week, the car stopped running, I had to borrow money to put in a whole brand new engine in it. Then, the air went out, and one by one all the window motors went out. I would have to take extra clothes with me to change into at work, since I could not get the windows down, I had my first heat stroke in this vehicle.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Sturdy body

Cons: Lots of performance problems.

2.3 Automatic Van - Svanbjergslæberen... — This i the nicest Granada van I have seen for many years. It has a 2.3 liter V6 engine and automatic transmission. And a lot of Ikea potential! It was the top model from German Ford, and is about the nearest you get an real American car- build in Europe.....

Pros: The colour.... Daytona Gelb

Cons: Abselutely NOTHING
