    1977 Buick Skylark Review

A Great Eye Catcher — This was my first car and i got to say its a good first car. With the 305 v8 with a 4-barrel it is a long lasting engine not made for extreme power unless you drop a 350 v8 or another chevy small because any GM engine will fit for this vehicle. This car is the chevy cavalier of today but for '77. With the range of 140-230 horsepower its a car with some power but not as much as GMs from the 60s-early 70s. Now you would expect that a car like this would get low gas mileage but it gets a good average of 18 in the city and 21 on the highway. Very durable with an average of 384,000 miles. The chevy nova is the same thing with a different name to me. Anything from the 1978 chevy nova will fit on this vehicle. I, before i had this vehicle, thought it was an old lady car but now i think its a classic beauty with a normal engine and an enjoyable car for everyday driving and easy to work on...

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: when a person first look at it they think nova but its even more rare

Cons: not a lot of power like a '67 wildcat

Cool Ride — GO TO http://www.77buickskylark.weebly.com to see my rebuild of the 231 V6 3.8L. Great looking and comfortable but not allot of power with the stock 231 V6 odd fire. If you put a larger engine in it you will most likely have to change the transmission costing you more money. The odd fire engines are really interesting in their design and believe it or not they can run off of just 3 cylinders! Not recommended. I LOVE THIS CAR THOUGH!

Pros: Beautiful cars but the 231 V6 and TH200 Transmission are gutless. If you want power you can put in a V8 and mod it all you want. I kept mine all original for nostalgia value.....still wish it had a little more power.

Cons: If you put a larger engine in it you will most likely have to change the transmission costing you more money otherwise they are great cars and they handle well. You can mod them or customize them all  you want.
