1976 Austin AllegroReview
Sensible First Car But Certainly Not The Least Bit Trendy! — Had this three months before my 17th birthday. Managed to drive several hundred miles in private car parks before my birthday. Brakes failed while driving as a learner some 10 miles from home. Had fun getting back home using 1st gear and hand-brake at junctions. With Hydrogas suspension, it was bucking and bobbing with every application. Funny!
Pros: Cheap to run and slow. Flat out about 70mph but that was too scary
Cons: Soooo uncool
